Craft Teacher Temporary Position 2026/27 – Fjällängsskolan, Östersund
Östersunds kommunJämtlands län, Östersund
Previous experience is desired
Do you want to awaken students' joy of creation, curiosity, and confidence in their own abilities? Are you a dedicated craft teacher who is passionate about creative learning and collegial collaboration? Then Fjällängsskolan might be the right workplace for you.
We are currently looking for a Craft Teacher (temporary position) for the academic year 2026/2027.
Fjällängsskolan is a school for grades F–6 with approximately 310 students. We are a two-stream school with after-school care for all students and a generous schoolyard that invites play, movement, and community. The school is located on the outskirts of central Östersund with excellent commuting options via walking and cycling paths as well as public transport.
At our school, the student is at the center. All students should feel safe, included, and responsible. We have a positive view of students and high expectations for both students and adults. The teaching in school and after-school care is based on the curriculum's values and mission (Lgr22, parts 1 and 2). We work language-developingly in all subjects – including craft – and see creative work as an important part of students' learning and identity development. Collegial learning is central – we develop teaching by learning from and with each other.
Together with students and guardians, we create a operation with a high level of knowledge, creativity, and strong social competence, to give our students the best prerequisites in life.
Your new job
You will become part of a work team that collaborates around students' learning, safety, and development. You contribute with your subject competence and work together with colleagues, student health services, and other professions based on the school's common goals.
As a craft teacher, you have an important role in developing students' creativity, problem-solving skills, and perseverance. You create a safe and inspiring learning environment where students get to test ideas, develop technical and material knowledge, and feel pride in their work. You work with both process and product, where the students' own expressions are in focus.
You are also responsible for maintaining good dialogue with the students' guardians, among other things through development talks.
As an employee with us, you will work at a school where:
- creativity and creation are a natural part of learning
- safety and relationships are the foundation for development
- collegial collaboration is a matter of course
- your ideas and your engagement make a difference
Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, and evaluate craft teaching according to the curriculum
- Introduce and guide students in different materials, techniques, and working methods
- Create a safe, inspiring, and structured craft environment
- Stimulate students' creativity, problem-solving, and independence
- Collaborate in the work team and contribute to collegial learning
- Document and follow up on students' learning processes and knowledge development
- Work actively with safety and responsible material usage
Your qualifications
We are looking for you who are:
- a certified teacher with eligibility in craft
- confident in your leadership and clear in your teaching
- well-acquainted with the school's regulatory documents
- creative, structured, and solution-focused
- linguistically secure in Swedish, both orally and in writing
- comfortable with digital tools in teaching
Experience of working in primary school is meritorious.
Who are you?
You have a warm and professional approach and see every student's potential. You are engaged, flexible, and enjoy collaborating and building relationships.
You see the craft subject as an important part of students' holistic development and dare to try new working methods to develop teaching.
We place great emphasis on personal qualities.
A greeting from your future manager
Welcome to Fjällängsskolan!
For me, it is important that our school is characterized by safety, engagement, and a strong belief in every student's ability. In craft, students get the opportunity to develop their creativity, their courage to try, and their perseverance – abilities that are crucial both in school and in life.
I am looking for you who want to help build a teaching where joy of creation, quality, and relationships are at the center. With us, collaboration is a natural part of everyday life, and we value colleagues who share their competence and are curious about developing together with others.
I hope you want to become part of our community and contribute to making a difference – every day.
Warmly welcome with your application!
Karin Pettersson
Principal, Fjällängsskolan
