Job Description

As a University Lecturer, your primary responsibilities are teaching. Teaching also includes supervision, examination, course evaluation, and course development. Collaboration is an integrated part of the university's research and educational mission, and as a University Lecturer, you will actively contribute to the university's development work. The duties also include general administration, competence development, and participation in daily operations, as well as work within the subject area and the department.

For this position as a University Lecturer in Commercial Law/Legal Science, your duties will consist of teaching law at the undergraduate level. This will primarily take place within the framework of our Business Administration programs but may also involve teaching on related programs in Political Science and Law for Behavioral Science students, as well as in standalone courses including distance courses. The subject matter of the teaching includes, among other things, general law, labor law, and administrative law.

Eligibility Requirements

We are looking for you who have demonstrated pedagogical skill and hold a degree or equivalent competence.

The pedagogical skill must be documented in such a way that the quality of previous work can be assessed.

To be employed as a teacher at MDU, higher education pedagogical education or equivalent knowledge is required. Those who are employed but lack higher education pedagogical education will be offered to undergo such training during employment within two and a half years. The higher education pedagogical education at Mälardalen University corresponds to ten weeks of training.

For this position, the following eligibility requirements apply in addition to those established in the Terms of Employment at MDU.

Eligible for appointment as a University Lecturer in Commercial Law is one who has completed a law degree or has equivalent competence. It is a requirement to be able to teach in both Swedish and English.

Assessment Criteria

The assessment criteria shall include both the degree of skill required for the position and the ability and suitability otherwise required to perform the duties well.

In addition to the assessment criteria established in the Terms of Employment at MDU, special weight will be given to the following for this position.

Meritorious is demonstrated and certified previous experience of teaching and experience of working actively with students for quality and progression. It is also meritorious to have previous experience of working with and planning work for larger student groups, and experience of teaching law courses to business administration students (or other groups of students not within the field of law).

In a combined assessment of suitability, personal qualities are also given weight. All employees at MDU are expected to collaborate and treat colleagues and students with respect, take responsibility for the operations and their own tasks, and contribute to a good working environment.
