The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences is a cross-location department with activities at Campus Sundsvall and Campus Östersund. The activities include research and education in the subjects: English, Gender Studies, History, Criminology, Literary Studies, Social Studies, Sociology, Political Science, Swedish as a Second Language, and the Swedish language. Research is conducted within each subject as well as within the Risk and Crisis Research Center (RCR), the Forum for Gender Studies (FGV), and DEMICOM.
Job Description
The position of Guest Lecturer aims to temporarily add competence regarding primarily scientific activities. The primary tasks consist of work within research projects on crisis management and crisis leadership systems.
Qualifications
The person to be employed as a Guest Lecturer must be qualified according to the requirements described in Mittuniversitetet's employment regulations as well as according to the requirements described in the Faculty of Humanities' rules and guidelines.
Eligible for employment as a Guest Lecturer at Mittuniversitetet is someone who has an employment at a university within or outside Sweden and holds a professorship or is assessed to have equivalent competence.
Eligible for the position of Guest Lecturer in Political Science is someone who has demonstrated pedagogical skill, has completed a doctoral degree or has equivalent scientific competence, or has other professional skills that are significant with regard to the subject content and tasks of the employment.
The qualification refers to a doctoral degree in Political Science or Public Administration.
Other Requirements
Work experience from employment with equivalent content to that presented above is required, including experience from collegial work in an academic environment. Good knowledge of English and Swedish, both spoken and written, is a requirement.
The position requires independence and good collaboration skills. Since the position involves several different tasks, there is also a requirement for the ability to work systematically and good planning skills.
Evaluation Criteria
As evaluation criteria for the employment of a Guest Lecturer, the degree of such skill that is a requirement for eligibility for the employment shall apply. Equal care is given to the assessment of pedagogical skill as to scientific skill.
Scientific skill is assessed by weighing the applicant's scientific production, taking into account depth and breadth, experience of obtaining external research funding, and leading research projects.
Experience working in multidisciplinary research projects is meritorious. Experience of research and teaching regarding collaboration on civil defense is particularly meritorious.
Employment and Start Date
The employment is a special fixed-term employment covering 15% of full-time from and including 2026-07-01 or according to agreement, but no later than 2026-12-31.
