Special Educator at Emausskolan in Västerås

At Emausskolan, you are a central part of the student health and support services. You collaborate with students, educators, and the student health team to identify needs early on, creating an accessible, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.

Your Responsibilities

As a special educator, you play a significant role in the school's preventive and health-promoting work, providing advice and support to work teams/teachers, student groups, and individual students. You represent the student health team and work closely with teachers to identify students' pedagogical needs through assessments, investigations, work with action plans, and follow-up of additional adaptations.

The work is carried out in close collaboration with other special educators and teachers, where you serve as a key resource in analyzing student results and planning pedagogical interventions.

Together with the principal and other professionals within student health services, you work with students in need of support and contribute to developing student health services at an organizational level. With a strong ability to listen and include colleagues in joint decisions, you create conditions for a developmental collaboration and accessible learning environments. The role also involves working with small student groups, adapting materials and teaching approaches based on students' needs.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed teacher with a degree as a special educator specializing in literacy and reading/writing acquisition or mathematics acquisition. You have a genuine interest in students and their individual prerequisites for learning and development. You possess good skills in using computers and other technical aids in your daily work and have strong proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written. Experience in school operations or as a special educator is considered an advantage.

As a person, you are calm and communicative, with an understanding that all students have different prerequisites and absorb knowledge in different ways. With a deep understanding of the mission, you build relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. In new situations, you have the ability to adapt, and you work with good structure, planning your work effectively. You are eager to contribute your own ideas and suggestions and show great commitment to your role, wanting to work together with us to provide children with a secure and equal schooling experience.

Additional Information

Before you can be employed, you must present a clean extract from the police criminal record.

During the interview process, you must verify your citizenship. This can be done with a passport or alternatively a certificate of residence together with an ID document. If you are not a citizen of Sweden, the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, you must show that you have a valid work permit or are exempt from the requirement to have a work permit. Employment can only take place after verification of the work permit, as required by the Aliens Ordinance.
