Krokom Municipality is a growing community located in the heart of Jämtland. We have low unemployment and a diversified business sector with a strong entrepreneurial spirit. We are now looking for a dedicated study and career counselor who wants to encourage and support our residents in pursuing education, career changes, and new opportunities so they can thrive and develop within the municipality.

The Learning Center and Adult Education belong to the "Growth" area within the Municipal Executive Office, together with the departments for Business and Customer Center, Culture and Leisure, Planning and Traffic, Water and Wastewater (VA), Property, and Waste.

The Principal of Adult Education will be your direct manager, and you will collaborate and work together with contracted providers and engaged colleagues in other municipalities in Jämtland.

The Municipal Executive Office supports three committees: the Municipal Executive Board, the Building and Environment Committee, and the Social and Planning Committee. The office employs approximately 135 staff members and is divided into the Support Staff area, the Building and Environment area, and the Social and Growth area.

A day as a study and career counselor in adult education

The Learning Center offers municipal adult education (Komvux), adapted education, Swedish for Immigrants (SFI), as well as care and nursing education. Together with other municipalities in the county, we also provide access to a wide range of courses and vocational training.

As a study and career counselor within adult education, you guide both prospective and current students towards educational programs, whether where we are the main provider or with other providers and at different study levels.

Your work consists largely of creating individual study plans and holding individual counseling sessions. In Krokom Municipality, as a study and career counselor, you collaborate closely with other municipal activities such as the Municipal Activity Responsibility (KAA), Business and Customer Center, SFI, and care and nursing education, among others.

You also collaborate with study and career counselors from other municipalities in the region.

Your qualifications

We are looking for you who have an academic education as a study and career counselor, or several years of work experience in the field that we assess as equivalent.

You have good digital competence and good knowledge of Swedish in both speech and writing.

You are accustomed to documenting, as well as making presentations and follow-ups.

You have a category B driver's license.

It is an advantage if you have experience working with study and career counseling within adult education.

Your personal qualities are important, and we want you to have a genuine interest in motivating others to achieve their goals.

You are structured and responsible, with a solution-focused approach.

You are welcoming and open in your interactions with others and are someone who enjoys collaborating to find new ways of working towards common goals.

Other information

Permanent full-time position.

Working hours are during the day on weekdays.

Currently, there is a development process underway to strengthen and develop future adult education and the Learning Center. This means that a transfer of operations for staff within adult education may become relevant. However, the main responsibility will remain within the municipality.
