Case Officer in the School Sector
Do you want to work with qualified case management in the school sector and contribute to fair decisions for children and students in Gothenburg? We are now looking for a case officer for the authority's exercise and legal unit within the primary school administration, where you will be part of a team working on important issues for students and guardians in the city.
With us, you will have a socially important assignment where you help ensure fair decisions for students and guardians.
Job Responsibilities
As a case officer, you will work with the authority's exercise related to students in primary school. You will handle cases, investigate, and make decisions based on applicable legislation, primarily the Education Act.
Your work will include:
- handling cases regarding placement in preschool class, primary school, adapted primary school, and after-school care
- investigating and making decisions in cases regarding school transport
- working with school attendance monitoring
- preparing decision-making documentation and making decisions by delegation
- communicating with guardians, schools, and other stakeholders in various cases
- documenting and administrating cases in digital systems
You will work in teams based on different processes and may work across several of the unit's areas of responsibility. The work involves both independent responsibility and close collaboration with colleagues.
You will also contribute to developing the unit's working methods and processes so that we can continue to improve the quality of our authority's exercise.
The work requires a legally secure approach and the ability to make well-founded assessments based on applicable legislation.
About the Workplace
The authority's exercise and legal unit is part of the planning and development department within the primary school administration. Our mission is to ensure a legally secure and efficient handling of the administration's central authority's exercise and to provide good service to citizens and businesses.
About 30 employees work in the unit across different processes. We have broad expertise and an open and unpretentious work climate where we support each other in our work. There are great opportunities to develop and learn from colleagues with different experiences.
We work in activity-based premises at Gamlestads Torg.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
- a university degree in, for example, public administration, law, political science, social sciences, or another education that the employer deems equivalent
- experience in case handling, investigation, or qualified administrative work
- good ability to express yourself clearly in speech and writing in Swedish
It is meritorious if you have:
- experience in authority's exercise within public operations
- experience in working within the school or education sector
- experience in interpreting and applying legislation, preferably the Education Act
- experience working in digital case management systems
- good digital competence and can use data, digitization, and AI to challenge established working methods
Personal Competencies
We are looking for someone who can collaborate with colleagues to ensure fair and well-founded decisions in case handling and investigation. At the same time, you have the ability to take personal responsibility and work independently with your own cases.
You find it easy to create and maintain good relationships and meet guardians, schools, and other stakeholders in a professional and service-oriented manner. You are meticulous and care that your work is performed correctly and thoroughly, especially when preparing decision-making documentation and documentation.
Furthermore, you have a good ability to navigate different digital systems, work in a structured and efficient manner, and can balance several parallel cases. You remain calm even in more challenging situations and can make well-founded decisions under time pressure.
