Development Coordinator at Malmö City

Welcome to a strategic and community-oriented assignment where you, as a development coordinator, contribute to strengthening Malmö as a growth engine in one of Europe's most exciting megaregions.

Job Responsibilities

We are looking for someone with solid experience in strategic advocacy work, monitoring political processes, and analyzing societal development. In your role as a development coordinator, you will drive proactive and strategic advocacy work at the national level. You will be part of a team working on Malmö's advocacy efforts. Together, you will address strategic issues in complex environments where collaboration, analysis, and long-term relationship building are crucial. Through environmental monitoring and analysis, you will plan and implement activities to achieve the positional shifts that the city strives for at the regional and national decision-making levels. This includes issues related to urban planning, energy, infrastructure, and climate adaptation. Your role includes producing well-founded and well-formulated analyses and decision support for the city's political leadership. You will be part of the unit for external relations and coordination in the department of external affairs and business, reporting to the unit manager.

In this position, you will:

  • Conduct proactive and strategic advocacy work at the national level
  • Draft articles, analyses, materials, and strategies related to “What Malmö Wants”
  • Conduct investigative and analytical work on prioritized advocacy issues
  • Perform qualified processing of decision support documents
  • Initiate and drive strategic activities
  • Build and develop relationships and networks

In this role, you are expected to act and drive development towards defined goals. You will play an important role in a complex environment that requires an understanding of the broad municipal mission. In addition to being a civil servant in municipal operations and knowledgeable in your field, you are expected to contribute to the joint work of the city office and department.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A university degree in political science, communication, marketing, or another relevant field
  • Several years of experience in public affairs or strategic advocacy work
  • Experience working in a politically governed organization
  • Experience in relationship-building roles
  • Several years of experience in investigative and analytical work, including oral and written reporting
  • Excellent Swedish and English skills, both spoken and written

You understand the importance of both internal and external collaboration to achieve good results in your work. Your communication and analytical skills are very good – you absorb complex information and formulate clear and well-founded materials. You are confident, stable, and have good self-awareness, acting professionally in various situations. You also have the ability to see the big picture and consider overarching perspectives when making decisions or prioritizing tasks.
