Senior Business Controller Wanted

We are currently seeking a senior Business Controller for an assignment in a socially important and technically advanced operation within the municipal sector in the Gothenburg region.

The organization is responsible for the management and treatment of wastewater from several owner municipalities, as well as the recycling of resources back into the cycle through, among other things, biogas production and sludge management. The operation is central to the environment, sustainability, and regional community development.

About the Position

You will report directly to the CEO and be part of the management team. The role combines strategic financial responsibility with operational and present leadership. You will lead and coordinate the finance function and support a team consisting of a financial controller, accounting economist, and project controller.

The assignment requires you to be able to switch between a holistic perspective and details, as well as the ability to work both strategically and hands-on in daily operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and be responsible for budget and forecasting processes
  • Be responsible for financial reporting and follow-up
  • Ensure qualified financial analysis and decision support to the CEO and management
  • Participate in steering groups as an expert in finance and corporate governance
  • Drive and coordinate development work within governance, management, and internal control
  • Actively contribute to the strategic development of the organization

Who Are You?

We are looking for someone who is strategic, analytical, and structured with a solution-oriented approach. You are a confident and clear leader who feels comfortable in dialogue with the CEO and board.

You have many years of experience working in a politically governed organization and are used to taking overall responsibility for the finance function. As a person, you are independent, responsible, and unpretentious.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in economics or equivalent higher education in economics or public management.
  • At least 10 years of experience working with finance in municipal operations, preferably within a municipal company.
  • Several years of documented responsibility for budget and forecasting work as well as financial reporting and follow-up in a leading position.
  • Experience in management team work.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience with organizational changes.
  • Experience in business development and change management.
  • Good system knowledge in Nexxus Hypergene, BI support, Cognos, and Stratsys.
