The Department of Nursing Science offers nursing and specialist nursing programs as well as standalone courses at the undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels and works to strengthen both research in nursing science and interdisciplinary research.

The Academy of Health and Working Life, Department of Nursing Science at Högskolan i Gävle hereby announces a permanent position as Professor of Nursing Science.

Job Responsibilities

The main responsibilities include leading, actively driving, strengthening, and developing conditions for research and education with societal benefit. Important components of the tasks include collaboration with external parties, responsibility for subject development, and leading applications for external research funding that leads to the employment of doctoral students. The responsibilities also include participating in subject group meetings, leading organizational development, contributing to pedagogical/didactic work together with colleagues, and stimulating new researchers through mentorship and supervision. Research is expected to be strategically planned and conducted together with other employees in the department and preferably in interdisciplinary collaboration with other researchers at the university or other institutions/regions nationally and internationally. The position includes teaching, course development, supervision, and examination at all levels in our complete academic environment. In addition, the position includes research in the field of nursing/nursing science as well as subject development.

Workplace: Gävle, most of the working hours are campus-based.

Qualifications

Eligible for appointment as a professor in the field of nursing science at Högskolan i Gävle is one who has demonstrated scientific and pedagogical competence at the professor level and shown academic leadership in the field of nursing science, in accordance with the Employment Regulations at Högskolan i Gävle. Requirements for the position include being a PhD and/or docent in nursing/nursing science, having completed research supervisor training, and having supervised at least one doctoral student all the way from admission to doctoral degree as the main supervisor, as well as being the main responsible for the application for, and competitively sought and obtained, research funding from external national and/or international grantors. Furthermore, you must have completed higher education pedagogical training of 10 weeks according to SUHF's recommendations for qualifying higher education pedagogical training. If such training is lacking at the time of employment, you must complete such training within the first two years of employment.

The applicant must meet the above requirements for scientific and pedagogical competence, as well as demonstrate documented:

• Proven ability to successfully conduct research with high relevance in the field of nursing/nursing science and ability to seek and obtain external research grants.
• Proven ability to collaborate with the surrounding community and communicate research and development work.
• Pedagogical competence in teaching at the undergraduate level, advanced level, and doctoral education.
• Pedagogical competence in planning, implementing, and evaluating teaching, as well as supervision and examination.
• Good ability to express oneself in speech and writing in Swedish and English, based on the content and tasks of the position.

Particularly meritorious is having:

• Proven ability to successfully plan, lead, and conduct research with high relevance in nursing/nursing science with a focus on patient-centered and/or person-centered care.
• Proven ability to collaborate and contribute to a good research environment.
• Proven ability to supervise doctoral students throughout the entire doctoral process from admission to examination.

Meritorious is having:

• Nursing degree or other health profession education.
• Experience of practical work in health care.

The assessment criteria will be the degree of such competence that is a requirement for eligibility to be appointed as a professor at Högskolan i Gävle.

Conditions and Other Information

The position is permanent and full-time. We apply a probationary period. Start date by agreement.
