Polhem School is Gävle's largest upper secondary school with approximately 1600 students. At Polhem School, there are 10 national programs, including one preparatory program and nine vocational programs. In the adapted upper secondary school, there are 4 national programs and one individual program. Polhem School has well-developed work teams and extensive quality work aimed at increasing students' goal achievement.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Do you want to make a difference every day? As a student coach in the adapted upper secondary school, you will be an important part of creating security, support, and motivation for students' development. With us, you will work closely with people, build relationships, and contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Your tasks include:

  • supporting students individually and in groups, so they can benefit from the education. This may involve students' concentration difficulties, psychosocial difficulties, parts of vocational education, or theoretical components
  • working together with school management, teachers, guardians, and students to find individual solutions for students to acquire knowledge
  • training students in everyday work tasks and/or being a support for students during breaks, in changing rooms, during APL, etc.

You will be present throughout the student's entire school day and, if applicable, also during TÖT.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

  • a completed upper secondary school diploma
  • knowledge of and experience with digital tools
  • the ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing
  • experience working in adapted schools or similar activities, such as residential care, short-term supervision, daily activities with individuals within our LSS target group
  • experience working with the target group of neuropsychiatric disabilities (NPF) and IF
  • experience and knowledge of low-arousal approaches
  • experience coaching students both in school and during APL placements
  • experience collaborating between students, guardians, and external providers to create a safe and developing learning environment

To succeed in the role of student coach:

  • you take initiative in social contexts and have the ability to build trust in your professional relationships
  • you have an understanding of others' situations, listen, and show consideration
  • you have a humble approach in your collaboration with colleagues, students, and guardians
  • you have the ability to lead, motivate, and inspire students, helping them to develop and feel good. You are good at creating an open dialogue and adapting your actions based on the current situation. You create trusting relationships and help students feel safe at school

Interviews will be conducted on an ongoing basis!

You must be able to present a criminal record from the police for work in schools or preschools. This should not be attached to your application.
