About the Job

In this role, you will work with issues related to the knowledge and values work of preschool and school within the areas of human rights and democracy.

This includes children's and students' participation and influence, strengthening democratic abilities, safety and study peace, counteracting discrimination and degrading treatment, and promoting equal rights and opportunities in both teaching and education as a whole.

You will stay updated on research and proven experience as well as current legislation and regulations concerning the education sector. You will develop guiding and supportive materials for the education sector, organize conferences and lectures, and respond to consultations. You will represent the Swedish National Agency for Education in various networks with other authorities and civil society. The work may also involve participation in media contexts or collaborations with educational institutions for example in commissioned training and other professional development.

You will work both independently and in groups. The assignments vary in content and scope and involve a lot of collaboration with colleagues at the Swedish National Agency for Education as well as cooperation with, among others, educational institutions, authorities, and civil society organizations.

You will work in our modern and spacious office in Solna Business Park. You may also have the opportunity to work up to 50% remotely.

In this job, you should have:

  • a university degree with a focus on pedagogy or social sciences, or another direction that we assess as relevant,
  • several years of relevant work experience from a government agency or work at a comprehensive level within a municipality or region related to the education sector, or other experience from politically governed activities that we assess as relevant,
  • experience leading and driving development work in collaboration with others,
  • experience in driving the work with the preschool's or school's values, human rights, and democracy,
  • good knowledge in the areas of human rights and democracy,
  • good digital competence,
  • very good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish,
  • good knowledge of spoken and written English.

It is meritorious if you have experience in analysis and follow-up work, accustomed to reading and writing advanced texts, as well as experience in investigative work. It is also meritorious to have a doctoral degree or licentiate degree, experience working with or in preschool, experience teaching in the areas of human rights and democracy, knowledge of laws and regulations concerning human rights, disability policy, gender equality, racism, LGBTQI, and children's rights.
