Legal Unit for Infrastructure and Housing, Ministry of Rural Affairs and Infrastructure

The Ministry of Rural Affairs and Infrastructure is responsible for issues related to rural areas, food and agricultural industries, regional development, transportation and infrastructure, as well as housing and urban planning.

The Legal Unit for Infrastructure and Housing works with legal issues in the areas of transportation, housing, and urban development. The legal unit is now looking for a team member who will primarily work with legislation and legal analyses in the areas of urban planning and housing.

The tasks in this role involve drafting legal opinions, propositions, departmental memoranda, and legislative texts, among others, within the planning and building regulations. An important task is to participate in the work of negotiating EU legislation and, to some extent, in other international work.

The responsibilities also include assisting with legal investigations and other similar work, as well as providing information and advice on legal matters to the department's subject areas and to the political leadership.

The work involves a high degree of collaboration with other units in the Government Offices, as well as contacts with authorities and organizations. The work may involve travel, including to Brussels.

Your Background

We are looking for someone who has a law degree. It is an advantage if you are also a court of appeal or administrative court assessor. You should have relevant experience of qualified legal work from a court or authority, broad legal competence, and a very good ability to conduct in-depth legal analyses. It is an advantage if you have experience of legislative work within the Government Offices and regulatory work at an authority, particularly in the planning and building area. It is also an advantage if you have knowledge of any of the following subject areas: urban development, housing and construction, or transportation. Furthermore, it is advantageous if you have good knowledge of EU law.

Other Information

This is a fixed-term position for approximately 7 months with immediate start. The position is classified in a security category, and a security screening with a background check will be conducted before a hiring decision is made. You must be a Swedish citizen but may have a foreign background.
