Lawyer at the Anti-Discrimination Agency Stockholm North
The Anti-Discrimination Agency Stockholm North is one of Sweden's 19 anti-discrimination agencies working for people's right not to be discriminated against. We advocate for equal rights and opportunities for all in society. We work preventively by educating, informing, and collaborating on discrimination issues. Sensus Study Association is the main organization for the agency.
We are now looking for a lawyer who will have primary responsibility for handling discrimination cases and work in the agency's preventive efforts in collaboration with other employees. The Anti-Discrimination Agency Stockholm North is tasked with providing free advice and support to individuals who feel discriminated against. The assignment also includes preventing discrimination and violations through education and information as well as advocacy.
The position we are now filling for the work with the agency's case management primarily involves legal advice and support to individuals who feel discriminated against or to organizations that risk discriminating. Support for individuals primarily involves advice, support, mediation, settlement, and seeking other local solutions in discrimination cases.
You will be part of a small team that collectively is responsible for the agency's various areas related to information, advocacy, and education. You will primarily be responsible for case management.
Main Areas of Responsibility:
Overall legal responsibility; leads, coordinates, and develops case management and advice to individuals.
Job Duties:
- Legal advice and support to individuals in discrimination cases including investigating, preparing, and pursuing legal cases
- Meeting clients, negotiating with opposing parties, and handling advice via phone and email
- Participating in writing referral responses and advocacy activities
- Participating in collaborative forums with other lawyers, anti-discrimination agencies, and partners in civil society
- Maintaining and compiling statistics
- Evaluating and developing the handling of case management
- Monitoring and analyzing the external environment
- Participating in planning and executing education, information dissemination, and events aimed at different target groups
We are looking for someone who has:
- Law degree
- Experience in investigating, preparing, and pursuing legal cases.
- Knowledge and experience of working with anti-discrimination issues or human rights
- Experience and ability to meet people in vulnerable situations in individual counseling
- Comfortable and enjoys working independently
It is an advantage if:
- You have experience in legal negotiation or mediation
- You have experience in teaching
- You have good knowledge of MS Office
- You enjoy varied tasks in a small team
- Experience in outreach work
- Experience in advocacy work
The position is a fixed-term temporary position until 2026-12-31 at 80-100%. With the possibility of extension.
A collective agreement exists between Fremia and Unionen. We apply goal-oriented working hours corresponding to 40 hours/week for 100%. Travel and some weekend or evening work may occur. Start date by agreement.
