Workplace Description
At the Department of Structural Mechanics, we are driven by a desire to understand engineering problems and conduct research that contributes to solving societal challenges.
Our core areas are structural mechanics, material modeling, and computational methods. We are now seeking two assistants for the Department of Structural Mechanics.
Job Responsibilities
As an assistant, your tasks may vary, and the responsibilities should provide insight into the academic world at the faculty where you are studying.
The tasks for this position include:
- Teaching in exercises for the introductory course in mechanics.
- Participation in the assessment of examination assignments in basic mechanics.
- Administration.
The assistant positions pertain to VSMA25. See the schedule for VSMA25 Mechanics at http://www.lth.se (http://www.lth.se) for times of exercise sessions during weeks 13-22. Work with examinations is primarily scheduled for weeks 16-17 and weeks 24-25.
Qualifications
Eligible for employment as an assistant is someone who is admitted to education at the undergraduate or advanced level at the faculty (or related subject for the joint institutions). A degree must not have been obtained.
Requirements for the position are:
- Admitted to a civil engineering program or equivalent education that the employer deems relevant;
- Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written;
- Passed a course in Mechanics of at least 7.5 credits;
- Passed a course in Structural Mechanics or equivalent of at least 7.5 credits;
- Good communication skills.
Meritorious for the position is if you:
- Have knowledge in Structural Mechanics at an advanced level;
- Have an interest in further studies and work related to Structural Mechanics;
- Have previous teaching experience;
- Have good collaboration skills;
- Have an interest in contributing to others' learning.

Other
The employment is temporary from March 15, 2026, to June 15, 2026, and involves a scope of 17-35%. The employment must not negatively affect the assistant's studies. Regulations regarding educational employment as an assistant are found in the Higher Education Ordinance (SFS 2017:284), Chapter 5, Sections 8-12. The employment is covered by the working time agreement for teachers.
