Job Responsibilities

We are looking for two teaching assistants for our preschool classes at Högaholm School.

You will work during school hours in preschool classes under the guidance of preschool teachers. The role of a teaching assistant involves varied tasks based on the preschool class's mission. You will work alongside the preschool teacher who has the pedagogical responsibility, and you should be able to conduct your own activities both individually and with the entire group. After school hours, you will work in the after-school care where you collaborate with other staff. You will also conduct your own activities here. You contribute to the students' well-being and their ability to benefit from the school's education, as well as help them achieve the goals set out in the curriculum and education law.

Your work situation is adapted to the children's daily conditions, which means you need to be flexible and prepared for quick changes in the work. Your tasks include supporting students in their education and in the pedagogical activities in preschool classes and after-school care, as well as providing our students with the best conditions to develop in their schoolwork. You consciously work to create good relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. The approach is always to put the student in focus and to base your interactions on a low-arousal response and clear pedagogy.

Qualifications

Do you want to work for the best school for every student? You who are applying have completed upper secondary education. If it is from the child and leisure program, we see it as an advantage. You have at least two years of work experience, including work with children and youth. You also have substantial experience working with students in school who need a low-arousal response. If you have experience working with children with autism and language disorders, we consider it an advantage. You should have experience conducting activities independently in a full class. For the position, excellent Swedish skills in both spoken and written form are required!

We also appreciate that you have a good knowledge of the school's curriculum and other documents that govern the school's activities. We also see that you have knowledge of how different disabilities affect a student's learning and how to best compensate for these.

As a person, you are responsible, have a great deal of patience, are flexible, and have good social skills, treating students, guardians, and colleagues with respect and a solid value base. You see success factors, strengths, and opportunities in every child and youth. Furthermore, you are driven and can work both independently and in teams. You are accustomed to collaborating with others to help students develop as much as possible and have the ability to support the student in their knowledge development. Based on scientific principles and proven experience, you contribute to the development of the activities for the student. Of course, you have a professional approach and work towards good relationships with our students, their guardians, and all your colleagues at the school.

About the Workplace

In the green Lindängen area lies Högaholm School, a F–6 school with approximately 430 students. In January 2024, we opened Högaholm School in new, beautiful premises. Here, there are nice and modern classrooms, which provide a pleasant learning environment that creates a conducive atmosphere for work. In addition to classrooms, there are No/art rooms, home economics rooms, wood and metal workshops, textile workshops, music rooms, and a school library. Here, dedicated staff work with the goal that our students' school day should be characterized by safety, study peace, and a joyful learning environment where students' knowledge development is the focus. Högaholm School is a partner school, and in collaboration with Malmö University, we are involved in training future teachers. The after-school care at Högaholm School consists of three independent departments that collaborate with the lower grades during the school day. The after-school care has its own premises in the school.
