Summer Clerkship at Växjö District Court

Växjö District Court is one of Sweden's larger courts with over a hundred employees. The court has four adjudicating divisions, two in the general court and two in the environmental court. The court also has an administrative division that supports the case divisions in matters concerning finance, HR, IT, communication, archives, security, and service.

About 40 employees work in the general court, including judges, prosecutors, clerks, and court administrators.

About 50 employees work in the environmental court, including judges, technical advisors, prosecutors, legal advisors, clerks, and court administrators.

Every day, hundreds of cases and matters are decided in courts across Sweden. Our organization consists of employees with various competencies, each of whom is significant in maintaining legal security and high quality in all aspects.

Växjö District Court is now seeking one summer clerk for the general court and one for the environmental court for the period of June 16 – July 25, 2025.

What You Will Work With

As a summer clerk, you will gain insight into the court's operations. The tasks correspond largely to those performed by newly hired clerks at the court. You will see how practical court work is conducted and receive general training in legal analysis and methodology.

The overall goal of the summer clerkship is to provide the summer clerks with insight into the daily court work and the various cases and matters that occur at a district court. This is primarily achieved by giving you the opportunity to participate in practical work, which may also include tasks in the department's office.

General Court

As a summer clerk in the general court, you will take minutes at both criminal and civil hearings, write draft judgments, conduct legal research, and to some extent prepare cases and matters. Other tasks occurring at the court may also be included in the position.

Environmental Court

As a summer clerk in the environmental court, you will take minutes at meetings and hearings, write draft judgments, conduct legal research, and to some extent prepare cases and matters. Other tasks occurring at the court may also be included in the internship.

We Are Looking For Someone Who...

• has completed up to the sixth semester of the law program
• has completed procedural law as well as criminal and civil law in their legal education
• has not completed their education before summer 2025

We are looking for someone with good grades from completed parts of the law program, as well as strong legal knowledge and good communication skills. You convey information clearly and simply, both verbally and in writing. Other important qualities include attention to detail, analytical ability, good teamwork skills, and the ability to organize and plan your work.

Since we want to give as many people as possible insight into the court's operations, we will primarily prioritize applicants who do not have previous experience from similar work in the court.
