New Poll from Novus: Social Democrats on Top
The latest poll from Novus, released today on December 31, 2024, shows interesting changes within the Swedish political landscape. The Social Democrats continue to strengthen their position, rising to 34.40% from previously 32.80%. This is their highest rating in Novus since November 2024.
Party Changes and Trends
On the other hand, the Left Party has lost ground and now stands at 7.00%, a decrease from 8.20% in the last Novus poll in November. A similar downward trend can be seen for the Sweden Democrats, who now stand at 19.80% compared to 20.60% previously.
The Green Party has made a small but noticeable rise to 5.60% from 5.10%, which can be seen as a positive development after having been below the parliamentary threshold in several other surveys during the fall. The Center Party and the Liberals continue to struggle with support at 5.00% and 3.40% respectively, both with a slight decline since the last Novus measurement.
Moderates and Christian Democrats
The Moderates show a marginal increase to 19.80% from 19.70%, which can be seen as a stabilization after a turbulent fall. The Christian Democrats, on the other hand, show an increase to 3.60% from 3.20%, which may give the party hope of once again surpassing the parliamentary threshold if the trend continues.
Comparisons with Other Polling Institutes
A look at previous results from other polling institutes shows that the Social Democrats have had a strong trend there as well, with Ipsos reporting 31.00% and Sentio 31.30% in December. The Sweden Democrats' figures have varied, with Sentio noting 22.70% on December 18, indicating that their support may be more volatile.
Analysis and Future Perspectives
The latest Novus poll confirms the Social Democrats' strong position in Swedish politics, which may be due to their handling of current political issues and an effective campaign strategy. For the Left Party and the Sweden Democrats, the decline presents a challenge to regain lost voters.
The Green Party can celebrate a small victory with their rise, but continued work is needed to consolidate this support. For the Center Party and the Liberals, it will be crucial to find new ways to attract voters ahead of upcoming elections.
With these changes in mind, it will be exciting to follow the developments during 2025 and see how the parties will position themselves to maximize their influence and support.
