Now you have the opportunity to work with scouting in schools in the Järva area

Together we can do more! The Scouts give over 80,000 children and young people from all parts of society the chance to experience adventures together and grow as individuals. This means that we contribute every day to an open society characterized by diversity and respect, something that is more relevant than ever. Our 100 years of experience in active outdoor life also means that we have experiences we are happy to share – everything from group dynamics and leadership to personal development and strengthened self-esteem. Do you want to contribute?

The Scouts constantly strive to reach new target groups so that more children and young people and their families can try scouting in new forms. For several years, we have worked together with schools and leisure centers in Husby and Skärholmen in Stockholm to offer scouting to children within the framework of school and leisure activities. We have also conducted day camps where we offer youth and children scouting during the summer holidays. In the past year, we have also started operations in Hagsätra/Rågsved as well as in Gothenburg and Kristianstad.

Now we have the opportunity to continue and expand the project with a field consultant in the Järva area and are looking for another employee for the group “scouting in schools”.

About the position

In this fun and developing role, you will have the chance to work directly with children who have not yet discovered scouting. You will have the opportunity to inspire future role models together with your colleagues and see them have a leisure time filled with adventures and friends. You will perform scouting at schools/leisure centers in the area every week during the terms. There, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating activities, and you will carry out activities together with school and leisure staff at the schools you work with. You will have colleagues at the Scouts who have the same mission but in other locations in Sweden to assist you. You will be locally responsible in Järva.

During the summer months, you will also have the chance to develop your leadership as you will lead youth working during the holidays for three weeks. This includes a week of leadership training in the scout method and outdoor life techniques, followed by two weeks where they participate in conducting day scout camps that all children from the area can sign up for. You will be responsible for the entire camp planning, responsible for conducting training for the holiday workers, and then overall responsible for the day camp activities during the weeks, as well as performing evaluations and follow-ups. We have previously held summer camps in Husby, and all colleagues in the country have the same setup for the summer camp, so you and your colleagues have the opportunity to plan the summer camp together.

About you

To fit in this role, we see that you have:

  • Experience working with children and young people
  • Understanding and experience of voluntary engagement, preferably within the Scouts
  • Experience working in areas with socio-economic challenges
  • A background in school, leisure, or other educational activities
  • Knowledge and experience of outdoor life
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience working towards clear goals and the ability to plan, implement, document, and evaluate your work
  • A valid B driver's license

It is advantageous if you have education in pedagogy, outdoor life, leisure leadership, or other education that the employer deems equivalent for the position.

You enjoy outdoor life and being in nature. In this position, you will primarily work outdoors at schools in the Järva area. You are a secure role model and have the ability to inspire children and young people, seeing potential in their abilities. Additionally, you have a coaching approach and are happy to support young people into new responsibilities. You have well-developed self-leadership and solve problems as they arise, as well as easily create new contacts. You work in a structured manner and enjoy varied tasks.

The Scouts are a value-driven organization, and of course, you share our values and vision (read more about these at www.scouterna.se (http://www.scouterna.se)).

About the position

The position is a permanent employment at 100% with a start date of March 1. You will be at the Scouts' office near Örnsberg subway station and at the schools we collaborate with in Järva.

You will primarily work during the day. A few times each term, you will travel within Sweden to meet your colleagues in the “scouting in schools” group or to visit one of our national offices to participate in staff days at the Scouts. Occasionally, there may be work in the evenings and on weekends. The Scouts are covered by a collective agreement between Fremia and Unionen. We strive for diversity and welcome applicants with different backgrounds and experiences.

Your application

We only accept applications via our website. Selection is ongoing. A criminal record extract for work with children will be required before employment. The position may be filled before the application deadline, so submit your application today. The application deadline is 2025-02-02.
