Department of Computer and Systems Sciences (DSV)

The Department of Computer and Systems Sciences (DSV) is one of the largest departments within the Faculty of Social Sciences, with approximately 200 employees and around 4,500 students each academic year.

The teaching focuses on business systems, interaction design, data security, game design, decision theory, and project management. The main research areas are: business systems, data security, data science, digital games, digital innovation, e-government, health informatics, IT management and governance, risk and decision analysis, language technology, and technology-enhanced learning.

Job Responsibilities

The job responsibilities consist of 60% research and 40% teaching.

The tasks include the development, design, and testing of the second generation of the conversational agent TAMA in and out of VR, programming the system's interactions in Python as an OpenVoiceOS module, controlling the movements of the robotic parts using Arduino-compatible hardware, and developing VR and XR systems to complement the interactions. Ideally, the candidate will also contribute to ongoing research by designing and conducting user studies based on the new features added to the system.

The responsibilities also include teaching courses at the department at both undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as supervising theses at the bachelor’s and master’s levels.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has a PhD in computer and systems sciences and a background in both the development and design of conversational agents. You should also have proven technical skills in Python, OpenVoiceOS, Arduino, and Unity, and be familiar with the Raspberry Pi operating system and its development ecosystem. Documented ability to design and conduct user-oriented research studies is also an important part of the role as a research assistant.

About the Employment

The position is full-time and temporary for 5 months. Stockholm University applies individual salary setting. Start date according to agreement.
