Service-Oriented Housing Guide Wanted

SHIS Bostäder is Stockholm City's social housing resource.

Our mission is to provide secure transitional housing for established and newly arrived Stockholmers who, for social or economic reasons, find themselves outside the regular housing market. At SHIS, tenants live for a limited time, and our mission is to educate and guide them towards securing their own rental contracts. SHIS has about 220 dedicated employees, and together we manage around 40 properties with approximately 3700 apartments, supporting a large number of tenants each year.

SHIS Bostäder is now looking for a service-oriented housing guide who can build trust with people living in vulnerable situations. Are you motivated to support individuals on their journey to independent living and want to work on a socially important mission?

You will work alongside other housing guides, housing support staff, property managers, and cleaners with our common mission - to enable our tenants to get the key to their own door. In this role, you will report to the section manager. You adapt easily to changing circumstances and enjoy collaborating with others.

Job Description

As a housing guide, you will be responsible for assisting tenants with any questions they may have throughout their tenancy, as well as providing housing guidance. Support may include answering practical questions during move-in and move-out or when changing apartments. You will also need to assist and accompany tenants during interactions with authorities when necessary. The job also involves handling maintenance requests to property owners and providing service to external parties and our tenants.

Administration related to move-ins, move-outs, and rent payments is also part of the job. You will plan and conduct information meetings and follow-ups together with social services and tenants. You will plan and conduct contract signings and follow-ups with tenants and collaborate with district administrations. You are expected to follow up on rent payments and support tenants with their debts during their tenancy to facilitate their opportunities in the housing market, which may involve contacting budget and debt advisors in Stockholm City or our budget and debt advisor when needed. Documentation is done in our operational system according to the rental law.

The needs of the tenants are our focus, and therefore we also offer evening hours according to planning in the section. At SHIS, we work based on the MI (Motivational Interviewing) method.

Qualifications

It is important that you are flexible and service-oriented with good collaboration skills. You need to have a good understanding of inclusion issues related to tenants' diverse backgrounds. One of the most important aspects of our work is also collaboration with our clients, the district administrations, which requires you to be communicative and have a good ability to cooperate. Therefore, you are expected to have a holistic perspective, both in your work with tenants and in relation to SHIS's social mission.

We are looking for someone who has:

• post-secondary education, such as vocational training or education with a focus on social sciences/social work/care, or education deemed equivalent by the employer
• experience working within or collaborating with social services or the public sector, for example as a community guide
• experience working with the target group
• computer skills and familiarity with systems (Office package)
• good ability to express yourself well in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.

It is an advantage if you also have:

• post-secondary education as a social pedagogue
• knowledge of or experience working with rental legislation
• experience applying rental legislation and familiarity with documentation in operational systems
• knowledge of or experience working with motivational interviewing (MI), low-arousal responses, or equivalent methods
• understanding of LGBTQ-related issues.

We are in need of two housing guides who will be offered a permanent position with an initial probationary period of 6 months. Start date according to agreement.

We also need a temporary housing guide for a fixed-term employment, a 6-month contract. Start date according to agreement.
