Project Description
PhD Subject: Transport Science with a focus on Transport Systems
The project focuses on integrating the societal impact of transport solutions with travel behavior models.
These are often developed separately and often require specific expertise to synthesize and streamline the results. This project would explore and develop integrated assessment models using AI. It will examine how technology-based solutions (e.g., AV, EV) and nuanced policy measures (e.g., reducing parking) affect sustainability outcomes, specifically behavioral adaptation, emission targets, and equity goals. The methodological approach is a combination of theory-driven and data-driven models to build theory-driven AI systems. The application of estimates (e.g., VOT) will be discussed for a critical literature review and model development. The use of big data and data mining from social media will be explored.
Empirical evidence will be documented in scientific publications and disseminated to stakeholders outside academia. The candidate would collaborate with other PhD students in the research group.
Supervisor: Fariya Sharmeen is proposed to supervise the PhD student. A decision will be made upon admission.
