The Competence Supply Office works to create conditions and opportunities for people. Regardless of the specific activity, we have a common mission to offer citizens the opportunity to grow and develop, where the path to self-sufficiency should be as short as possible.

The Counseling Center is part of the adult education operations. Here, we work to develop and strengthen study and career counseling within municipal adult education, as well as provide support to the municipality's residents.

With us at the Counseling Center, you become part of an engaged and competent team of approximately 14 study and career counselors. We are proud to have received the highest grade in the Swedish Schools Inspectorate's quality review of study and career counseling within municipal adult education.

Our office is centrally located in Norrköping on Hospitalsgatan 20, with easy access to everything.

We are now looking for two study and career counselors to join our team – one permanent position and one fixed-term position.

Your responsibilities

As a study and career counselor with us at the Counseling Center, you step into a rewarding and challenging role where you have the opportunity to guide and motivate individuals towards education and work.

You meet our adult students in various life situations and offer guidance and advice through personal meetings, digital meetings, phone calls, lectures, networking, and outreach activities.

With us, you play an important role in helping people discover their interests and their full potential. You adapt your counseling strategies to the individual's needs and goals and actively work to follow up on individuals' development to ensure professional support and good service.

Every week, you meet with your study and career counselor colleagues together with our admissions officers, where you have the opportunity to exchange experiences, drive development issues, hold collegial discussions, and create a common overall picture of Komvux Norrköping.

The permanent study and career counselor position includes two main assignments.

The first assignment involves working as a study and career counselor within vocational training programs run by the municipality. In this role, you collaborate with the principal, vocational teachers, and other staff to give students the best possible conditions to succeed in their studies and become employable.

The second assignment involves outreach work aimed at prospective students. This may include contacting individuals who have applied for our programs to provide guidance and support in their educational choices. Collaboration with the admissions office and other principals is an important part of this work.

As a fixed-term study and career counselor, your primary placement is at the Counseling Center, where you primarily meet citizens through physical counseling sessions.

Who are you?

You have a degree as a study and career counselor, and we view it positively if you have experience in study and career counseling within adult education or upper secondary school.

To thrive and succeed in the role, you are a person who motivates and inspires people to take steps toward their goals. You have a coaching approach and see the individual's strengths and opportunities, while simultaneously creating trust and engagement in interactions with others.

You are comfortable with change and have the ability to explain, anchor, and create understanding when working methods or conditions change.

You see development as a natural part of the work and contribute with a positive and solution-oriented approach.

We also see that you work independently, take responsibility for driving your work forward, and have good judgment regarding when you need to collaborate with colleagues or ask for support.
