Your responsibilities

As an after-school program teacher at Harvestadsskolorna, you have a meaningful and stimulating role where you oversee the student's entire school day. You plan, teach, evaluate, and drive values-based work based on the curriculum (Lgr22). Your daily routine involves shaping varied, safe, and challenging teaching.

In your role as an after-school program teacher, you will:

  • Conduct teaching in the after-school program, both independently and in close collaboration with colleagues.
  • Act as a key resource during the school day, supporting and challenging individual students or groups to promote their knowledge development.
  • Have the opportunity to further enrich the students' school day – depending on your own interests and the needs of the operation, your remaining time may also include teaching in art or music.
  • Collaborate actively with both colleagues and guardians to create the best possible conditions and high goal achievement for each student.
  • Promote collegial learning through reflection and discussion in the work team.

Your workplace

Harvestadsskolorna consists of two modern schools in beautiful natural surroundings: Harvestadsskolan (completed 2015) and Bogestadsskolan (completed 2018). Together, we welcome approximately 500 students from preschool class to grade 6. The schools are beautifully nestled between forest environments, residential areas, and football fields – a perfect environment for movement, play, and outdoor pedagogy.

The current position as an after-school program teacher is primarily located at Bogestadsskolan, where our after-school program activity is divided into three departments. We work for a clear thread where school, preschool class, and after-school program are woven together integratively. Here, you will meet a culture based on scientific grounds and characterized by our three keywords: knowledge, safety, and engagement.

You who apply

We primarily seek you who have a teacher license with eligibility in after-school programs. Secondarily, we seek you with a degree certificate or completed education as an after-school program teacher. Alternatively, you are at the end of your education as an after-school program teacher. It is meritorious if you have eligibility to teach in more subjects, based on the operation's needs. We see it as a big plus if you have eligibility or an interest in an aesthetic subject, such as music and/or art, to develop the creative activities here.

It is a requirement that you have experience as a teacher in a curriculum-based after-school program, through practice or as an employee. It is meritorious if you have worked as an after-school program teacher for at least one school year.

In your role as an after-school program teacher, you have good knowledge of the school's mission and are well acquainted with the curriculum (Lgr22) and other regulatory documents. You have good communicative skills in speech and writing in the Swedish language. This is so that, according to the curriculum (Lgr22), you organize and carry out the work so that the student receives support in their language and communication development. You are responsible for ensuring that each student can use the Swedish language in a rich and nuanced way.

As an after-school program teacher, you are a good role model. You have the ability to adapt your teaching to the students and let them participate in the design of the teaching. In a quality-conscious way, you create good conditions for the student's development and learning and document this. You collaborate well with colleagues, guardians, and other contacts in society that occur in your professional role.
