Do you want to help shape the future of banking supervision? The financial sector is undergoing one of its most significant transformations in years. Digitalization, artificial intelligence, and increasing complexity are changing how banks manage their operations, make decisions, and handle risks. At the same time, demands for effective governance, efficient risk management, and robust control functions are growing.
About the role
We are now looking for senior risk experts to join our newly established SRK unit – a specialized team responsible for supervision, methodology development, and regulatory development within governance, risk management, and control, as well as operational risk management. This is an opportunity for you to leverage your experience to make a real impact. You will become part of a group of specialists working together to shape the future of supervision in an area where technology, regulations, and risks are evolving faster than ever.
As a Senior Risk Expert, you will work with advanced supervision of banks' governance, risk management, and control. You will participate in and lead supervisory activities, conduct on-site inspections, analyze complex risk issues, and contribute to the development of supervisory methodologies, guidelines, and regulations.
The role involves close dialogue with bank management and control functions, as well as collaboration with other specialist areas within Finansinspektionen (FI), European supervisory authorities, and international working groups.
The SRK unit is in a development phase where methodology development is a natural part of the assignment. Together, we will further develop how supervision is conducted in areas such as internal governance and control, operational risk, companies' use of AI, and other emerging risk areas.
We also see a growing need to develop how new technology can be used to strengthen analysis, methodology, and supervision. Therefore, we are looking for individuals who want to contribute to developing both working methods and future supervisory approaches.
We are seeking experienced specialists who remain curious – people who want to continue developing themselves and, together with us, contribute to the next generation of supervision within governance, risk management, and control.
Your education and experience
We are looking for you who
- hold an academic degree at least at bachelor's level in e.g., economics, law, or systems science, or other education that the employer considers equivalent
- have several years of experience in advanced work within governance, risk management, control, or supervision in the financial sector
- have previously worked with analysis and assessment of complex risk and governance issues
- possess good knowledge of regulations for financial companies
- have solid understanding of governance, risk management, and control within banks or other financial institutions
- express yourself well in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing.
The following would be advantageous:
- a master's degree or equivalent
- experience in one or more of the following areas: operational risk, internal governance and control, governance, compliance, internal audit, AI governance, model risk, third-party risk, model development, supervision, or regulatory work, experience with European regulations.
About you
In this role, you need to be able to analyze and solve complex issues with high quality, while seeing connections and consequences from a long-term and strategic perspective. You collaborate well with others, build good relationships, and communicate clearly, openly, and constructively. You are happy to share your expertise and contribute to positive knowledge exchange. The role also requires flexibility and adaptability to changing conditions, working methods, and tasks. Furthermore, you take initiative, drive work forward even when obstacles arise, and show strong commitment to developing and improving processes and methods.
If you are driven by working with some of the most complex and socially important issues in financial supervision, and want to help shape how future governance, risk management, and control will develop, we believe you will thrive here.
