The Building Permits Department belongs to the Urban Planning Administration and is responsible for handling applications for building permits, demolition permits, pre-decisions, coastal protection dispensations, supervision of ventilation systems and elevators, accessibility adaptations, reportable measures, and reports of illegal construction. Case officers provide the public with support and advice in the building permit process and are involved in the planning process. The department ensures that requests align with the municipality's goals for desired urban development, local environmental requirements, and sustainable development. The Building Permits Department is organized into seven units and consists of over 100 employees working with building permits, supervision, and accessibility adaptations.

Responsibilities

As a Building Permit Coordinator, you have responsibility for driving forward and coordinating teams consisting of architects/case officers and inspectors. Your duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparation for case processing, as well as follow-up and monitoring of the team's cases and processing of simpler building permit cases.
  • Answering questions from customers via email and phone.
  • Collaborating with other coordinators in the unit to ensure case balance/distribution across the department, and discussing working methods, routines, and processes.
  • Other building permit administration.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are an engaged and service-oriented coordinator who enjoys working with others. You are confident in yourself and have an easy time building trust and good relationships. You have experience leading a group and are good at coordinating, distributing, and prioritizing tasks and responsibilities. As a coordinator, you lead teams to work proactively and result-oriented by being inspiring and having a coaching approach.

You, as the applicant, have a university degree or alternatively a University College Diploma (YH) as a building permit case officer, as well as documented multi-year experience in similar tasks involving coordination. It is an advantage if you have previously worked with the building permit process and if you have IT skills and interest, as much of the work involves digital handling.

Since the advertising for this position takes place during the summer holiday period, response times may be longer than usual. We ask you to contact us primarily via email, and we will get back to you as soon as possible. The selection process begins after the advertising period has ended, and interviews are planned to be conducted during weeks 35 and 37.

Other Information

Currently, our workplace at Köpmansgatan 20 is being renovated, where all urban development administrations will be gathered. The new premises are expected to be ready by August 2026.
