We have approximately 500 employees, with two full-time stations located in Borås and Skene, and we are among the largest rescue service associations in the country regarding Rescue Service Personnel on Call (part-time firefighters). Dispatch and Command Officer for Älvsborg Control Centre

Do you want a key role in the command and control of the rescue service and contribute to ensuring that rescue operations are carried out efficiently and safely? Södra Älvsborg Rescue Service is now seeking a Dispatch and Command Officer (LLB), a dynamic role where you truly have the chance to make a difference, with the opportunity to work closely with operational command and contribute to societal safety.

The Role

As an LLB, you operate within the decision domain of system command and perform tasks based on the roles the function encompasses – such as command support, initial resource management, and response adaptation. You will operate within a rescue command system that stretches from Mellerud in the north to Laholm in the south. Within the rescue command system, several LLBs work in parallel, located at geographically dispersed control centres in Trollhättan, Borås, and Halmstad. We are now seeking Dispatch and Command Officers based in Borås. You will work together with two other LLBs under one Duty Officer.

A central part of the role as LLB is to contribute to an unbroken command process. You continuously evaluate information about the need for assistance in accidents and adapt the response allocation based on the current situation picture. In this role, you initiate, direct, and coordinate other time-critical actions in the early stages of rescue operations.

You ensure that ongoing rescue operations are followed up and provide continuous and proactive command support to the operational organization. Through active follow-up and the preparation of relevant decision-making materials, you create good conditions for the operational command's work.

As an LLB, you are also responsible for ensuring that rescue operations are equipped with the right resources and capabilities for effective implementation. This includes maintaining close cooperation and contact with SOS Alarm. Furthermore, you ensure initial readiness management within your assigned area and perform actions to maintain readiness according to given frameworks.

The position also involves working during daytime on tasks designed in collaboration with your manager, based on personal competence. Since our rescue command system is new and we will be in a strong phase of construction and development, it is also expected that you will contribute to the development of the robust rescue command system that we aspire to be.

Qualifications

Education

To be considered for the position, you must have completed one of the following courses with a passing grade, or another education deemed equivalent:

  • The Command Course Lk1b, or
  • The supplementary education for fire engineers (RUB), or
  • Other older education deemed equivalent.
  • Experience in operational command functions within overarching and/or near-incident command.

Meritorious

  • Having completed the Dispatch and Command Officer Command Course, Lk3.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Applied knowledge of LSO (Swedish Civil Defence Emergency Management Agency regulations) and occupational safety legislation.
  • Good understanding of the command process, decision domains, as well as ELS and the framework Gemensamma grunder (Common Grounds).
  • Knowledge of dispatch and readiness management, prioritization principles, tactics, and methods.
  • Ability to handle information and situation pictures, as well as use technical decision and communication support.
  • Ability to coordinate resources, structure, and communicate information in real-time.
  • Courage and judgment to make decisions even under unclear conditions.

Personal Attributes

We are looking for someone who is structured and methodical and feels comfortable in a high work pace. You have good multitasking abilities and high stress tolerance, and are communicative, clear, and team-oriented.

A B-class driver's license is required.

We value good conditions for a sustainable working life for our employees, with a good work environment and opportunities for constant development. To achieve this, we offer a workplace with developmental tasks in a socially important function and engaged colleagues who work together to create safety for the inhabitants of the region.
