Description

At Axevalla Horse Center between Skara and Skövde, you will find everything you could wish for in terms of horses. We are in an expansion phase where a new school and horse facility were put into use during the autumn of 2024. At Axevalla Horse Center, we offer upper secondary education, adult education, and vocational higher education (YH) in the disciplines of equestrian sports, trotting sports, and Icelandic horse sports. We also offer farrier education at the YH level. As a school, we work actively with various sports federations: Swedish Trotting Association, Swedish Equestrian Federation, and Swedish Icelandic Horse Association. We are a certified Quality Marked Horse Gymnasium according to HYN's requirements. Our goal is for all students to reach as far as possible in their learning. We know that a skilled, experienced, curious teacher with positive expectations of students in teaching makes a difference. We aim to prepare students for working life or further studies, and your biggest task is to guide students there.

Responsibilities

• Teaching at both upper secondary level and adult vocational education, primarily within the subjects:

• Animal husbandry – horse
• Nature farming
• Scientific specialization with a focus on ethology, physiology, and animal welfare.

The teaching includes both theoretical and practical aspects regarding horse behavior, health, care, and sustainable animal husbandry, and preferably with elements of other animal species to broaden students' understanding.

The work involves planning, preparing, and conducting lessons, evaluating students' performance and knowledge, and grading. You need to be able to adapt your teaching for students with support needs and challenge students to reach as far as possible in their knowledge development.

You will be part of a work team with other educators within the horse field. The work team works in close collaboration with all school operations to jointly contribute to students and learners reaching as far as possible in their development towards the goals.

The work also includes common care and operation of horses and horse facilities, as well as APL (Work Integrated Learning) work such as visiting students at the workplace.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are educated as an agronomist, ethologist, hippologist, or have equivalent education and have professional experience working with horses.

Category B driver's license for manual transmission.

You are development- and goal-oriented, meticulous, and enjoy being in a changing everyday life together with students, learners, and colleagues. We put the students and their knowledge development at the center. Therefore, you need to be sensitive to their needs, conditions, and experiences. You are characterized by openness, lack of hierarchy, and have a strong desire for development and collaboration.

It is meritorious if you have pedagogical education and experience in teaching, especially as a teacher in upper secondary vocational subjects. Category BE license or extended B96 is also meritorious.

Conditions

The position is a fixed-term appointment of 6 months with good opportunities for extension. 100% employment and holiday service. Start date as soon as possible according to agreement.
