Description

Welcome to Björkåsskolan, where approximately 300 students from preschool class to grade 6 attend. We support students in their development into mature, responsible individuals with self-confidence and the ability to interact with others. We are now looking for a special needs educator (specialpedagog) who will primarily work with grades F-6 in close collaboration with the school's special needs teachers.

Responsibilities

This position involves both special educational needs tasks and elements of special teacher duties. You will work directly with students as well as with assessments, investigations, and documentation related to students' needs for support and development. You will be part of the school's Student Health Team (EHT) as well as the special team, which consists of special needs teachers and school management.

Specifically, the role includes mentoring teachers, work teams, and other staff, and, together with the school management and the school's pedagogical leadership team, contributing to the school's overall development and quality work. You offer consultation and support in working with students in need of special support, conduct classroom observations, and work towards the development of accessible and inclusive learning environments.

As a special needs educator, you are responsible for identifying and analyzing students' strengths and needs, and for initiating, planning, implementing, and following up on interventions that promote students' knowledge development and goal achievement. With your special educational competence, you contribute strategies, methods, and tools that strengthen the organization's work with support measures and adjustments.

The role also includes responsibility for pedagogical assessments and action plans in collaboration with mentors and other relevant professions. Together with a special needs teacher, you have overall responsibility for monitoring students at risk of not meeting knowledge requirements and ensuring they receive adequate support measures. The role also involves collaboration with guardians and external actors.

You are an important resource in the school's systematic quality work and contribute to follow-up, evaluation, and development of routines, working methods, and structures. Documentation is a central part of the role, and the work is carried out, among other things, in the journal system PMO.

The position also involves working directly with students in need of special support at both individual and group levels. You conduct relevant assessments and tests, work both preventively and remedially, and plan, implement, and evaluate support measures. Together with the school staff, you actively work to create an accessible, inclusive, and developmental learning environment where all students are given the best possible conditions for success.

Qualifications

Requirements

For the position of special needs educator, we require that you have a degree in special education with a primary school teacher education as a foundation. We also look for previous experience working as a special needs educator. You need to be well-versed in the school's governing documents.

Merits

  • Knowledge of students' early reading and writing acquisition.
  • Experience in mentoring teachers and staff, as well as driving school development in collaboration with school management.

Personal Competencies

You have the ability to work independently as well as in teams, where you have a mentoring role towards educators. You also have good communication skills with colleagues, students, and guardians. Furthermore, you need to be able to see the different needs of students and can spread this knowledge within the work team. You need to have very good collaboration skills, be flexible, and communicative.

You are confident in your role and have a good ability to build relationships with colleagues, students, and guardians. You are courageous and have the ability to stand by your well-thought-out opinions. Finally, you see challenges as a natural part of everyday life, which you solve individually or together with us others.
