Åva Gymnasium offers upper secondary education within university-preparatory and vocational programs, International Baccalaureate (IB), and introductory programs. An important part of preparing students for the future is raising awareness about technological development and sustainability issues. As an employee at Åva, educators receive unique support in this work, as the school is both a certified EPAS school and a UN school.

All new employees participate in an induction program during their first year, and newly graduated teachers are assigned a mentor.

Who are you?

We want you, the applicant for this position, to be a qualified upper secondary school teacher in History and Social Studies. You will teach these subjects according to the GY25 curriculum in English to students in year 1 of the IB program.

You have the ability to plan and organize both your own and your students' work in an effective manner, and you create an stimulating and trusting classroom climate where all students have a voice. As a person, you have a good ability to inspire, engage, and challenge students in their learning based on their knowledge level. You use digital tools as a natural part of your teaching. You value close collaboration with colleagues and strive to always develop your teaching by contributing to collegial learning. We see you as a clear pedagogical leader who has the ability to communicate well with students, guardians, and staff.

You hold a teaching license.

We would prefer that you have worked as an upper secondary teacher for a few years, but newly graduated teachers are also welcome to apply for the position. We place great importance on personal suitability. The position is a fixed-term appointment comprising 40% with a start at the beginning of the academic year 2026/2027. Mentoring is included in the position.
