The Cluster for Environmental Biotechnology at the Department of Industrial Biotechnology is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to conduct research in the field of resource recovery. The successful candidate will participate in several EU and nationally funded projects, particularly focusing on the co-digestion of food waste and bioplastics for the bioproduction of value-added products such as volatile fatty acids and biogas. The work encompasses bioproduction processes, analysis of microbial ecology, as well as the separation and purification of bioproducts. The role involves collaboration with other academic and industrial partners. The candidate is expected to write scientific articles, technical reports, and present results orally to the scientific community and the general public. The position may also include teaching and supervising undergraduate and doctoral students.

Qualifications

Requirements

• A PhD degree or a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a PhD in environmental biotechnology, environmental engineering, biotechnology, or another related field. This qualification requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
• Experience in experimental research regarding the design, operation, and optimization of anaerobic bioreactors.
• Experience in experimental research in wastewater treatment and/or other waste streams.
• Experience in experimental research in the analysis of bioplastics.
• Experience in experimental research using tools for microbial ecology.
• The candidate must have good communication skills and be proficient in English, both written and spoken, as this is required in daily work.
• The candidate must have strong scientific writing skills, demonstrated by publications in international peer-reviewed journals.
• The candidate must be highly motivated and capable of working independently as well as performing critical analyses.
• The candidate must have good teamwork skills.

About the Position

The employment is permanent, but for a maximum of two years.

A postdoctoral position is a time-limited qualifying appointment with a primary focus on research, intended as a first career step after the PhD.
