Subject Teacher in Music
Josefinaskolan is beautifully situated in nature between Märsta and Sigtuna. The school is run as a non-profit foundation and accommodates approximately 200 students in grades F-9. We have about 30 dedicated employees who together contribute to a learning-rich and secure school environment.
As a music teacher with us, you play a central role in the school's artistic and social life. You teach the subject by developing students' listening skills, collaboration, and creativity.
Responsibilities
We are looking for a music teacher for instruction in music for grades 5-9, with an extent of approximately 60%. The position can be combined with other assignments, with a start date in autumn 2026.
About Music Education
The subject of music plays a central role in the school's pedagogical whole and permeates both teaching and communal contexts.
Education is based on active participation, where students develop their musicianship through singing, choir, and ensemble playing. We train rhythm, ear training, listening, and collaboration. We work with acoustic instruments and various musical forms of expression, encountering music as part of culture, history, and community. Music is integrated into the school's traditions and contributes to creating meaning, context, and participation.
Detailed Responsibilities
As a music teacher in grades 5 to 9, you will teach music according to the Swedish National Curriculum (Lgr22) and the Waldorf pedagogy A Path to Freedom. Your tasks include:
- Planning, implementing, and evaluating teaching.
- Leading students in singing, choir, rhythmics, and ensemble playing.
- Creating a safe, structured, and inspiring learning environment.
- Stimulating students' creativity, expression, and cooperation skills.
- Contributing to the school's concerts, performances, and traditions.
- Collaborating with colleagues, student health services, and guardians.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who meet the school's qualification requirements:
- Waldorf teacher education or ongoing education.
- State-approved teacher education.
- Subject and didactic competence through education, work experience, and courses.
- Interest in further developing your skills within Waldorf pedagogy.
For us, having the right person in the right place is crucial.
Personal Qualities
We are looking for you who teach with presence, structure, and engagement. You are creative and create joy in music and participation. You have a secure and inclusive leadership style, thrive in close collaboration regarding students and classes, and have a reflective and curious approach.
Employment Conditions
Salary according to collective agreement and the school's internal salary ladder. We are slightly below the average salary in Sigtuna Municipality, but offer added values such as:
- Pedagogical freedom and professional trust.
- Time for deepening knowledge and artistic work.
- Close collegial collaboration.
- A meaningful and long-term learning environment focused on the whole person.
A clean police record extract is required upon employment.
Application
Please submit your application with CV and cover letter as soon as possible.
Selection and interviews are conducted on an ongoing basis.
