Workplace Description

ESS Gymnasium is a high school with a special educational profile, "just like all other schools but in a completely different way." We have a total of approximately 400 students and about 85 staff members. We offer education on the Social Sciences program, specializing in Behavioral Science (SA-BET), as well as on the Introduction Program with the Individual Alternative focus (IMA) with various profiles (IMA-AST, IMA-SPV, IMA). Our target group is primarily students with various functional variations, aged 16-19.

A school with different learning environments

We are one school but operate in different locations around Stockholm. Our premises and learning environments are adapted to our students' needs. We are located at Campus Åsö (approx. 300 students), in Vällingby (approx. 90 students), and have school premises in Liljeholmen for smaller student groups. We are also responsible for hospital teaching at 5 different hospital schools in Stockholm. The school is led by a principal, two deputy principals, and an administrative manager.

It is important to us to encourage all types of progress in students, even if they are small. We have high expectations that students want to learn and that they can develop to achieve their goals. To succeed with this, we place great emphasis on getting to know our students. Collaboration, approach, and relationship building are therefore central to us, both within the staff group and in our actions towards students at the individual and group levels.

Those who work at ESS want to make a difference

Our collegium is highly competent with long and broad experience in teaching students in need of extra adjustments and support to succeed in their studies. Our teachers are organized in cross-curricular work teams around a common group of students on one of our programs. In addition to teaching, our teachers are mentors with the aim of coaching students in their studies during their school years. We have work teams for the Social Sciences program specializing in Behavioral Science (SA-BEP), a work team for IMA AST (at Campus Åsö), a work team for IMA SPV and IMA (at Campus Åsö - currently in premises in Liljeholmen, moving in the autumn), a work team for IMA and IMA SPV in Vällingby, and a work team for the teachers at the hospital schools. The Student Health Team works together for the whole school but is also divided into smaller EHT teams that collaborate closely with the work teams regarding the students. We are a densely staffed school, and the teaching allows for fewer students per teacher compared to other schools.

School Development Work

Our school development work is needs-driven and aims to develop teaching for increased learning in line with our special educational profile. This includes managing what is good and improving what needs to get better. At ESS Gymnasium, everyone in the staff is important, regardless of position and assignment at the school, for the students' goal achievement and well-being. We strive for our students to get a solid platform to stand on to be able to create an independent life with further studies or work.

Job Description

We are now looking for a teacher in Swedish and Mathematics on a full-time basis for a temporary position for teaching on SA-BEP (Social Sciences program, specializing in Behavioral Science), qualified at the high school level.

You will be in a dual-teaching partnership, meaning you are two certified teachers in the classroom. The position will consist of some courses in Swedish, Upper Secondary Project Work, where you will collaborate with a colleague who has Social Studies qualifications, as well as hours in our Flex Studio where you will teach students individually or in small groups in Swedish and Mathematics.

Your subject combination is important in our matching, but we require that you, as an applicant for the position, have previous experience and a great interest in teaching students with functional variations/students within NPF in close collaboration/collegially in and outside the classroom.

The right candidate should have the ability to collaborate without hierarchy with other teaching colleagues, the ability to adapt teaching for students who need individual adjustments and who are in need of special support. Furthermore, you need to be flexible and responsive to students' different needs in the role of a teacher.

You are part of a cross-curricular work team for SA-BEP and can possibly be a mentor. You build good relationships collegially, with students, and with guardians.

We place great emphasis on previous experience according to the requirements, why you want to work at our school specifically, and with the target group of students studying at the school.
