Västra Götaland Region, as Sweden's largest adult education provider, manages six folk high schools: Billströmska, Dalsland, Fristad, Grebbestad, Gothenburg, and Vara.

We provide education and adult learning opportunities where participants can take general courses to gain eligibility for higher education or profile courses to deepen their knowledge in a specific area. There are about thirty longer courses to choose from. At several of our schools, as well as at the administrative level, we also run various projects in a range of areas. The administration also includes Validering Väst and the VIA assignment, which supports individuals who are further from the labor market. We aim to create opportunities for the individual and society by working for security, participation, and hope for the future. Many say their years at the folk high school were the best years of their lives. Folk high schools make a difference and help people find their future.

The folk high school in Vara was founded in 1915 and has been located in its current premises since 1935. Currently, we offer general courses at the compulsory school and upper secondary school levels, leisure leader training, radio journalism training, Swedish for Immigrants (SFI), and a "Växa vidare" course (a course for people with functional variations). We have a boarding house where participants can rent rooms, and we run extensive course and conference activities. The folk high school has a branch in Mariestad where we offer general courses at the compulsory school and upper secondary school levels, as well as a study-motivating folk high school course.

In total, the school has approximately 160 participants on long-term courses.

About the Role

We are looking for a pedagogical resource for our general course. With us, you get to be truly involved – in the classroom, in conversations, and in everyday life. You work together with teachers and participants to contribute to a safe, encouraging, and developmental environment.

What You Will Do

• Support in the classroom together with teachers
• Help participants with studies and structure
• Contribute to motivation, security, and study environment
• Participate in activities and the school's daily life
• Serve as a role model

Qualifications

You can be a recent high school graduate or have other relevant experience – the most important thing is your commitment and your willingness to develop and your curiosity about people. You are confident in the subjects of Swedish, English, and Mathematics. You enjoy collaborating, dare to try new things, and want to develop. You don't need to know everything – the most important thing is your attitude!

Requirements:

• High school diploma
• Passing grade in Swedish Level 3 and English Level 2

Meritorious (Preferred):

• Mathematics Level 4 and/or Level 5

Conditions

• Scope: 80%
