Älvegårdsskolan AGR is a small school for grades 1-9 where students study both by subjects and subject areas. This autumn, we are starting with two classes. We are now looking for a leisure-time center teacher who wants to help shape our new adapted compulsory school.

The school is located between the sea and the forest in Torslanda, surrounded by beautiful natural areas. Älvegårdsskolan AGR belongs to the school area Hisingen 12, which also includes Lillebyskolan. Lillebyskolan and Älvegårdsskolan are located close to each other.

The leadership team in the school area consists of a principal and two deputy principals. Around our students, there is a large staff group – teachers and student assistants. There is a student health team with a school nurse, psychologist, counselor, and special educator.

When the school is fully established in a few years, it will consist of 5 classes for students with intellectual disabilities.

Responsibilities

As a leisure-time center teacher, you are responsible for designing and adapting the activities at the leisure-time center to meet the students' specific needs. In our activities, we base ourselves on clarifying pedagogy and low-affective handling. We work on developing the students' communication skills both for learning and to enable them to have the best possible life.

As a leisure-time center teacher with us, you have an important role. Together with student assistants and special education teachers, you work to create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment for our students in the adapted compulsory school. You meet children with different needs and prerequisites and contribute to supporting their development, both during school hours and at the leisure-time center.

Qualifications

Formal qualifications

We are looking for you who are a certified leisure-time center teacher. You are well acquainted with the steering documents that regulate the leisure-time center's mission as well as the curriculum for the adapted compulsory school.

It is meritorious if you have experience working in an adapted compulsory school. We would appreciate it if you had competence in TAKK (Total Communication for Communication) and/or AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication), as well as knowledge of low-affective handling.

Personal qualifications

You have a conscious and professional approach that creates security, trust, and good relationships, both with children, guardians, and colleagues. You are pedagogically knowledgeable and have an easy way of communicating. As a person, you are stable and secure, while also being flexible and enjoying finding solutions in challenging situations.
