About the Job
We are now looking for a Social Secretary (Social Worker) for the Reception Unit for Social Assistance.
The unit often serves as the first point of contact for our clients, which means the role of Social Secretary at the reception involves many quick and sometimes short meetings with clients. The tasks are divided into three main areas:
- Scheduling
- New cases and investigations
- Duty & counseling
In scheduling, we receive the initial information from and about the client. We either schedule them for a new case meeting or guide them to other authorities.
New cases and investigations is the first opportunity where we physically meet the client, gather all necessary information and documentation to investigate their right to assistance, and subsequently make decisions.
In the duty role, we receive spontaneous and unannounced visits from clients who have not yet had the chance to attend a new case meeting or get an assigned case worker, but who have found themselves in an acute emergency situation regarding, for example, food or medication.
As we are often the first point of contact with social services, we frequently encounter various issues within individuals or families. Therefore, we collaborate closely with other units. The role also includes providing civic information to citizens and guiding them to other authorities such as the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, the Public Employment Service, and unemployment funds. The role also requires us to be observant and act if children in a family are at risk of harm or if there is domestic violence.
We are a team currently consisting of 19 employees, four team leaders, and one unit manager. The unit operates from the administration's office at Förstamajgatan 2a. We continuously work on developing and improving our methods by leveraging employee experience, city requirements, and client needs. We are constantly evolving, both as a unit and as an administration, and your contribution as an employee is important in these processes.
This autumn, we will also work on working time innovations and participate in the 4-day week project.
Some evening work may occur.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a degree in Social Work (Social Worker). You understand the importance of legally secure case handling and know what this means in practice. We expect you to have experience working within social assistance, and experience from a reception unit within social assistance is meritorious. Knowledge of Arabic, Somali, Tigrinya, or Persian is considered meritorious. Knowledge of the Treserva system is also considered meritorious. Knowledge of Office 365 is a requirement.

You take into account different information sources and perspectives and can adapt this to your own operations. We are looking for someone who thrives in a politically governed organization where you understand the big picture and work together with your colleagues to achieve goals and assignments. We will place great emphasis on personal qualities.

The Social Administration Nordost works to provide residents in northeast Gothenburg with equal and effective welfare, with the opportunity to live safe and independent lives.
