Do you want to support young people and contribute to improving their living conditions? We are now looking for two field secretaries for the Social Services Department in Sydväst (South West). Here, you will be part of a creative team with high competence and strong engagement, where your ideas and initiatives are valued.
We operate in various arenas where we meet young people and work to create a safe and supportive environment. The social outreach work aims to establish contacts and relationships with young people who are in vulnerable situations and need support for social change. As a field secretary, you actively seek out young people at their own meeting places. This can be in public spaces such as city centers, residential areas, and parks where young people gather, but also in more organized children's and youth environments like schools and leisure activities. Field secretaries need to be present in arenas where young people are and during the times when they are there. This means that the outreach work takes place both during the day and in the evening, on weekdays and weekends.
By regularly being in the environments where young people are, meeting and getting to know them, and showing interest in how they are doing, you build relationships with young people based on respect and trust. Through your presence, you gain knowledge about the young people in the area and their living conditions. This provides the opportunity to identify social problem areas and be available when young people need an adult contact who can meet, support, and link them to further support from social services or other assistance agencies. In this role, you will have the opportunity to conduct social change work and work at the individual, group, and structural levels. You collaborate with other important actors, networks, and potential resources. The work also includes documentation, evaluation, and knowledge production.

You will have significant scope for action and the opportunity to influence how we best work to meet the needs of young people. You are educated as a social worker or hold another higher education or university degree that the employer considers equivalent. You also need to have previous experience of working outreach with children and young people or have corresponding relevant experience in the field.
We consider it meritorious if you have worked with field work previously and if you have experience of supportive and motivational conversations.
As a person, you are responsible, engaged, and have a genuine interest in working with young people. You take responsibility for your assignment, work in a structured manner, and focus on creating the best possible conditions for the young people we meet. You follow up on your work and actively contribute to developing the operations.
You are curious and development-oriented, keep yourself updated in your field, and are happy to contribute new ideas and perspectives. You see opportunities for improvement and want to help develop working methods that strengthen support for young people and their families.
You have a respectful and attentive approach and are keen to understand young people's different life situations, needs, and perspectives. You build trusting relationships, meet people with care, and see challenges as opportunities for learning and development.
You feel confident in social contexts, communicate clearly, and have the ability to handle difficult conversations in a professional manner. At the same time, you are a team player who values collaboration and contributes to a good working climate with colleagues and other actors around the young people.
Evening and weekend shifts are included in the schedule. Interviews take place continuously during the advertising period.

The Social Services Department in Sydväst is one of four social services departments in the City of Gothenburg with around 900 employees. In the Sydväst city area, approximately 120,000 residents live, and the area stretches from Billdal to Högsbohöjd and to the southern archipelago.
