About the position

Personal assistance is a support measure under the LSS Act (Act on Support and Service for Certain Disabled Persons). In your role as a personal assistant, you will primarily help the customer with everything that arises in daily life as well as with basic needs. Your work involves safeguarding the customer's self-determination and integrity, and contributing to a smooth daily routine. Each assistance assignment is uniquely adapted to the customer's life, so tasks may vary depending on the workplace.

About the customer

The customer is an 18-year-old boy who lives with his family in Trollhättan. He has autism and has a comprehensive need for support to secure his daily life around the clock, both at home and outside. He uses a varied communication style, utilizing picture support as well as sounds and his own signs. His interests include gaming, walking, music, and much else that involves speed and movement.

In working with the customer, we apply a low-affective approach (LAB) combined with a strong focus on motivational work.

- Motivational work: A large part of the daily work involves inspiring and motivating the customer to perform various tasks and participate in activities. Staff must be able to read the customer's daily mood and find the right keys to encourage the customer in a positive way.

- Low-affective approach: We work preventively to create a safe environment without stress. We avoid confrontations and set demands in a way that is adapted to the customer's conditions.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who is confident in themselves and understands the importance of a low-affective approach. The work requires that you, as an assistant, are comfortable with a high pace and enjoy being out and about in activities. Since communication is central, experience with picture support is meritorious, but the most important qualities are sensitivity and the ability to adapt your language. Experience with autism and LAB is highly meritorious.

Requirements for the position:

• previous knowledge of or interest in working with LAB (low-affective approach)
• good knowledge of Swedish
• good physical ability to participate in the customer's activities both at home and outside
• not allergic to or afraid of dogs, as there is a dog in the customer's home
• swimming proficiency and comfort accompanying the customer to the swimming pool

Meritorious qualifications for the position:

• experience in work involving aggressive and/or self-harming behavior
• completed training in low-affective approach or is willing and interested in taking training before working with a customer exhibiting challenging behaviors
• previous experience with alternative communication

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Working hours, employment degree, and salary

The current form of employment is "for as long as the assistance assignment lasts" with an employment degree of approximately 50%. Working hours are scheduled for day and evening, varied on the roster, with double assistance during all active hours. Work shifts are weekdays 15:00–22:00 and some weekends 09:00–16:00 and/or 16:00–22:00 on a rolling schedule.

Fixed hourly wage by agreement and other compensations are according to the collective agreement.

Start date: By agreement.
