More information about us can be found at: Department of Romance and Classical Studies (#).
Subject/Subject Description
Academic education in Romance languages has been offered in Stockholm since the late 1920s. After less than ten years, the first chair in Romance languages was established in 1937. The undergraduate education at the Department of Romance Languages was divided into four languages during the 1960s: French, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish. This remains the case today: the subject of Italian is part of the Department of Romance and Classical Studies, where, alongside the aforementioned Romance languages, it also includes education and research in Greek, Latin, and Latin American studies. The department constitutes a dynamic research and educational environment and currently has around 70 employees.
Over 700 students study Italian at undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels each academic year at the Department of Romance and Classical Studies. Teaching and research in Italian are focused on literary studies, linguistics, second language acquisition, and early literature. Central research areas within all Romance languages are literary and linguistic studies.
Job Responsibilities
The duties consist of undergraduate teaching with a focus on Italian literature and language proficiency. Teaching on courses with other focuses and preparatory courses, as well as thesis supervision, may occur. Teaching also includes course responsibility, course administration, and examination. Teaching takes place on campus and remotely. Administrative duties may be added.
Qualifications
Eligible for employment as a University Lecturer in Italian is one who has completed a doctoral degree in Italian or another relevant subject and has demonstrated pedagogical skill. As a special qualification requirement, the applicant must have documented very good proficiency in spoken and written Italian and good proficiency in Swedish.

The skill must be well documented in a way that makes it possible to assess the quality of the pedagogical activity.
Great emphasis is also placed on knowledge of Italian, Italian literature, and literary studies.
At otherwise equal merits, experience in second or foreign language teaching is distinguishing.
