Job Description
Do you want to help create safety, inclusion, and a meaningful everyday life for others? We are now looking for two support assistants for Barret Housing with Special Service, located near Östra Hospital. One position is a permanent employment, and the other is a fixed-term contract extending until December 31, 2026.
Barret is a group home for adults with autism, intellectual disabilities, and physical functional variations. Several tenants have additional diagnoses and needs that require individually adapted support. The operations are characterized by a low-affective approach where safety, structure, and inclusion are in focus. In our work, we use image support and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) to strengthen the tenants' independence and ability to influence their daily lives.
As a support assistant, you play a vital role in the tenants' daily lives and work together with colleagues to create structure, safety, and good quality of life. The duties include support in daily activities, personal care, household chores, and leisure activities based on each individual's needs and wishes. Several tenants have extensive care needs, meaning the work is care-oriented and may include support with personal hygiene and other daily care.
In this role, you work to motivate, guide, and support the tenants towards increased independence and inclusion. You follow up and document interventions according to current routines and collaborate with colleagues, relatives, guardians, and other actors involved with the individual. Walks, activities, and excursions are a natural part of the operations, and driving is also part of the job.
Working hours are scheduled according to a roster including day, evening, and weekend shifts.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a degree from the Care and Nursing Programme, the Support Assistant Programme, or the Child and Leisure Programme with a focus on social or pedagogical work. The educational requirement is also met if you have a post-secondary specialization within the disability field comprising at least 200 YH credits, 120 university credits, or a combination thereof equivalent to at least four semesters of full-time studies. Alternatively, 60 university credits and at least two years of experience working with support and services for people with disabilities. The education must have relevant points in behavioral science, pedagogy, psychology, social work, and (psychiatric) nursing, or other education that the employer deems equivalent.
To document and communicate in the operations, passing grades in Swedish 1 or Swedish as a Second Language 1 are required. Those who do not meet the qualification requirements may be offered a language test via Educateit.
The position requires a B driver's license and good driving skills as driving is part of the work. It is also meritorious for the position if you have experience and knowledge in low-affective handling (LAB).
We place great emphasis on personal competencies. You are confident and stable in yourself and in your professional role, which allows you to remain calm and act professionally even in challenging situations. You are responsible and take ownership of both your own and the group's tasks with the tenants' best interests in focus. You have a good approach and meet every individual with respect, sensitivity, and warmth. Furthermore, you are team-oriented and actively contribute to a good work climate by working together with colleagues towards common goals and creating conditions for safe and quality support.
