Vänsterpartiet increases in the latest Ipsos poll – Liberals close to the threshold

The opinion poll published by Ipsos on June 17, 2026, shows several minor changes in the Swedish party landscape. The interviews were conducted between June 2 and 14. The Social Democrats remain the largest party, but Vänsterpartiet shows the clearest increase compared to the previous Ipsos poll.

Summary of the results

The Social Democrats are noted at 31 percent, a decrease of 1 percentage point since the last Ipsos poll. Vänsterpartiet rises to 10 percent, an increase of 2 percentage points. The Moderates drop to 17 percent (–2), while the Sweden Democrats receive 19 percent (–1). The Green Party and the Christian Democrats both advance by 1 percentage point each, reaching 7 and 6 percent respectively. The Centre Party remains at 6 percent without change. The Liberals decline to 1 percent, placing them well below the parliamentary threshold.

What has actually changed

Vänsterpartiet's increase to 10 percent stands out in this poll, especially since the party has been slightly lower in several other institutes recently. The Social Democrats have decreased slightly but remain the largest party. The Moderates' loss of 2 percentage points means they are now at the same level as in several other current polls. The slight decline of the Sweden Democrats confirms the stabilization around 19–20 percent seen in several polls during the spring.

The Green Party and the Christian Democrats both gain 1 percentage point compared to the previous Ipsos poll, placing both parties clearly above the 4 percent threshold. The Centre Party remains at 6 percent, maintaining a stable position, while the Liberals drop to only 1 percent, far below the threshold, as also seen in other polls during the spring.

How should the poll be interpreted

It is important to remember that a single opinion poll does not give the full picture of the political situation. Small changes between two polls may be due to chance or temporary events. However, the Ipsos poll from June 2026 shows continued stability among the larger parties, with Vänsterpartiet’s increase being the most notable exception.

This poll is part of a series where several institutes have shown similar levels for the largest parties. The Liberals have been below the threshold in several polls, and this time the decline is particularly clear. For the most current figures and longer-term trends, refer to the opinion section, where all institutes and polls are presented collectively.
