About the job

Do you want to make a difference for our young adults?

Aröds HVB offers housing and support for young adults aged 18–20 who are experiencing acute homelessness. We have 12 apartments where our residents may be actively using substances and/or have mental health issues. Our goal is to support and motivate these young individuals toward an independent life through daily contact and close collaboration.

Your tasks will include creating implementation plans together with the resident and the social secretary, setting goals and activities that promote their chances of increasing independence. In addition, we work to map the individual's resources and needs to motivate and support the path toward independent housing and life. Your ability to be attentive, curious, and motivating is therefore a very valuable asset in the daily work. We work in an individualized manner, meaning we see the uniqueness in each individual and create opportunities and provide support based on each person's specific needs. We work closely with the placing social secretary and the work also involves collaboration with other authorities and professional networks. All work is documented carefully in our digital system, Treserva.

We work in a team-oriented environment where we share case management. Together with colleagues, we plan and implement interventions adapted to the individual's needs and the social services' mandate. Our methods include Motivational Interviewing (MI), Low-Affective Handling (LAB), Relapse Prevention Conversations, and Trauma-Informed Care (TIC). At our facility, no day is like the other, and we are always prepared for unpredictable situations, thriving on the ability to quickly adapt depending on the situation. We also help each other with practical tasks such as cleaning our own premises and assisting our residents with their own households when needed.

You will become part of a competent work group consisting of youth secretaries, day and night staff, the manager, and the unit director. Working hours are primarily during the day, but you will also work some evenings and every third weekend. Our premises at Övre Eriksberg are easily accessible by public transport, and management is available 24/7.

About you

You are educated as a social worker (socionom) or have another higher education degree of at least three years that the employer considers equivalent. To take on the role, you must have at least one year of work experience in social work. A B-class driver's license is required. It is meritorious if you have work experience in social work with young people or persons with substance abuse issues and/or mental health problems. It is also considered meritorious if you have training in MI, Low-Affective Handling, Relapse Prevention Conversations, and Trauma-Informed Care.

You are friendly and helpful to other people, even in stressful situations. You show respect for everyone you meet at work. You are inviting and positive. You work to ensure that every young adult at Aröds HVB gets what they need.

You work well with others by listening, showing interest, and respect. You understand the common mission and work to make it as successful as possible. You take responsibility for your own tasks and the group's tasks. You think about those we serve and their best interests. You do your best to complete all tasks correctly and follow up on the results.

You are calm and secure in pressured and difficult situations. You can balance the demands placed on you and can make well-founded decisions despite time pressure. You can resist pressure from others, set boundaries, and say no when necessary. You are clear in your professional role and act professionally in situations where others question you or make unreasonable demands.
