Are you looking for colleagues who, like you, enjoy working with authority-based tasks that require a secure and legally sound case handling? Do you want an exciting and varied job where you have the opportunity to make a difference for the children of Upplands Väsby? Then you might be the person we are looking for for our child welfare group!

What we offer you

We offer a workplace where we have fun together despite the sometimes tough work. Your task will be to investigate the situation of the child and their family, who for various reasons may need support and help to achieve a functional living situation.

You will be part of a work group with flexible, ambitious, and solution-focused colleagues who care for and support each other, while valuing differences and diverse backgrounds. Your deputy unit manager, Nina, will supervise you in your assignment. Senior case officer Hanna’s role is to support you in your daily work. Together, the group holds joint meetings and external supervision. You will also be given time for individual case supervision. "Yrkesresan" (a professional development program) is included as part of the competence development we offer.

About us

The child welfare group consists of investigative social secretaries, a support function, and a deputy unit manager, totaling 10 employees. The child welfare group is part of the Investigation and Placement Unit for Children, Youth, and Domestic Violence, which consists of 50 employees. Together, we work based on the overarching political goal of providing good living conditions for children and young people in Upplands Väsby Municipality. Our social office is located in Väsby Center, close to other authority-based units and our preventive units. Our unit holds joint workplace meetings and planning days, and we share an interest in ensuring that the authority-based work we do is conducted in a legally secure manner.

About the position

Your task as a social secretary in the child welfare group is to work with children, young people, and their families who need support and protection, with the aim of finding sustainable solutions. You will conduct investigations according to the Social Services Act (SoL) and the Law on Care of Young Persons (LVU), as well as follow up on approved measures. Investigations and follow-ups are conducted according to BBIC (Barns Behov i Centrum) and current legislation. As an investigative social secretary in the child welfare group, you are a link in the chain from when the case comes in to our reception group, through to investigation, and if the child is placed in foster care, the next link in the chain is the placement group.

Are you the one we are looking for?

We are looking for you who have a degree in social work.

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Previous experience in authority-based work
  • Experience working with investigations and measures for children and young people
  • Current knowledge of and experience with relevant legislation and BBIC
  • Experience with Signs of Safety and Motivational Interviewing (MI), and engagement with these working methods

As a person, you are relationship-building, meaning you easily establish contact and build relationships with both children and adults. Furthermore, you are stable and team-oriented, which for us means, among other things, that you can handle acute situations at work by maintaining calm and focusing on what is best from the child's perspective. You also need to be structured to fit the role, demonstrated by good planning in the handling of your cases and working purposefully and independently.

At the Social and Care Office, we work with everything from adoption issues to end-of-life care. Our operations and organizational culture are shaped by our core values of participation, competence, trust, and respect. This is the foundation of our work and an approach towards each other and those we serve.

We warmly welcome your application!
