We are now recruiting an Assistant Professor in Criminal Law to complement and develop the research and educational environment at the Department of Legal Science in Kalmar. We are looking for you who want to be present in Kalmar, build something new, develop what is established, and through collaboration contribute to building a complete academic environment that leaves a mark both within and outside the university world. The Department of Legal Science is organizationally affiliated with the Faculty of Social Sciences and currently has about ten full-time employees. We conduct research in areas such as European law, public law, and labor law.

Subject area for the position: Legal Science

Permanent workplace: Kalmar.

Since Linnaeus University is located in both Växjö and Kalmar, travel between the locations may occur.

Employment extent: Full-time for 4 years.

Start date: According to agreement.

The purpose of the position as Assistant Professor is, according to the Higher Education Ordinance, to give the teacher the opportunity to develop their independence as a researcher and gain merit both scientifically and pedagogically to meet the requirements for eligibility for a position as Associate Professor. According to the Higher Education Ordinance, an Assistant Professor shall, upon application, be promoted to Associate Professor if they are eligible for such a position and are assessed as suitable for such a position according to the assessment criteria relevant to the appointment. Such promotion entails a permanent appointment as Associate Professor. Application and assessment for promotion to Associate Professor shall take place within the employment period as Assistant Professor.

Job description:

As an Assistant Professor in Criminal Law at the newly formed Department of Legal Science, you will have an active role in building the research environment. The appointed person is expected to actively participate in national and international research activities. The appointed person is expected to have continuous presence at the workplace. The position includes 50% teaching, preferably on the department's legal science program, as well as the upcoming law program, which is under construction. Teaching on other courses, for example through lending to other departments, also occurs. The remaining 50% is expected to be conducted by the Assistant Professor in research within their subject, with the aim of gaining merit for promotion to Associate Professor and potentially Docent.
