Job Description

Welcome to Lindängeskolan's adapted primary school!

You will work as a student assistant during school hours and on one of our after-school care (fritidshem) and LSS (Social Services Act) departments before and after school hours. The role involves caring for individual students and working with students who have significant motor and severe cognitive disabilities. You will work in close collaboration with other professional groups and functions at the school. Through your work, you contribute to promoting the students' knowledge development together with the rest of the team.

Your duties include supporting the student in their communication, schoolwork, and providing support and care in all daily situations. The students' needs vary and usually encompass physical, social, and psychological needs. This may involve help with socializing and communicating with peers and adults, assistance during meals, dressing, hygiene during toilet visits, help with transfers (e.g., from wheelchair to standing frame), medication, tube feeding, and various forms of inhalation and breathing exercises. During school hours, you are part of a team, and the tasks are led by a teacher with special competence. You are involved in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the pedagogical work based on the school's guidelines and the LSS Act, together with the rest of the team. You base your work on the students' needs and interests to create a safe and accessible learning environment.

Qualifications

You have completed upper secondary education. It is meritorious to have a focus on care or equivalent knowledge through at least two years of experience with children and young people with intellectual disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders (NPF), and multiple disabilities, both cognitive and motor. You have knowledge of alternative communication methods and low-arousal approaches. You also have knowledge of different diagnoses and disabilities, and how to respond to them. We would appreciate it if you had good knowledge of the school's curriculum and other documents governing the school's operations. For the role, it is necessary that you have good command of Swedish in speech and writing.

You are aware that care can be a natural and integrated part of the student's school day. It is meritorious if you have experience working with children in a hospital setting or similar operations. It is also meritorious if your competence includes both medication and care for students with epilepsy, various diagnoses that can cause seizures, type 1 and 2 diabetes, as well as handling various forms of tube feeding and inhalations. It is also meritorious if you have knowledge of and experience collaborating with habilitation services (physiotherapists, speech therapists, doctors, occupational therapists, psychologists, etc.), social services, and guardians.

As a person, you are calm, stable, and sensitive, and have the ability to create a safe environment for the students and set boundaries for them. Working with our students means that no day is like the other. The student's condition on a given day determines which demands and activities work. Therefore, you need to be flexible and able to adapt your working method to each individual student's needs.

We look forward to receiving your application!
