Skurup Municipality seeks Student Assistant for Adapted Primary School

Skurup Municipality's adapted primary school is a newly launched operation that will move into its own premises in autumn 2026. Here, we will teach approximately 20 students in grades 1–9 within subject and subject-oriented adapted primary school. Our team consists of special education teachers, student assistants, and leisure-time pedagogues – all with a common goal: to create an accessible, individualized, and inspiring learning environment where every student has the opportunity to grow based on their abilities.

Our school is a new initiative featuring state-of-the-art facilities, adapted learning environments, and a strong focus on inclusive teaching. We work cross-curricularly and with clear structure to create security and learning for students with various functional variations.

Job Responsibilities

As a student assistant in adapted primary school within subject areas 7-9 and the leisure-time center, you will:

  • Support students in lessons, during breaks, at the leisure-time center, and during transitions throughout the day.
  • Actively participate in all types of teaching, including swimming/bathing and the subject of physical education, as well as cycling on excursions.
  • Be flexible, read, and follow the students' needs in the moment.
  • Handle challenging behavior with a low-affective approach.
  • Act as a spokesperson between the student and their surroundings during the school day and leisure-time activities if needed.
  • Help and support with personal care such as toilet visits, dressing/undressing, meal situations, which may involve lifting the student.
  • Perform self-care tasks which may include administering emergency medication, tube feeding, and handling catheters.
  • Work closely with teachers and the student health team to create security and continuity.
  • Contribute to students feeling seen, included, and motivated.
  • Be involved in planning, documentation, and evaluation of the pedagogical work.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the daily work regarding students' needs.
  • Work for good cooperation between school, leisure-time center, and home.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who:

  • Have an education as a childcare worker, student assistant, support pedagogue, or equivalent education.
  • Enjoy being outdoors a lot with a single student, being flexible, and conducting learning simultaneously.
  • Have experience working with children and young people with intellectual disabilities and ADHD/Autism (NPF) as well as competence in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
  • Have previous experience with self-care and personal care.
  • Have a good ability to build relationships and work with a low-affective approach.
  • Are structured, responsible, and secure in your professional role.
  • Have experience working with teaching in school and the leisure-time center.
  • Can document, plan, and evaluate together with pedagogues.
  • Have an interest in building up and collaborating with colleagues in a team.
  • Want to be part of building up an operation where every student gets to succeed.
  • Experience working in adapted primary school is highly meritorious.

Employment Terms

  • Salary form: Monthly salary.
  • Employment form: Fixed-term employment.
  • Duration: Start: 2026-08-03, End: 2027-06-15.
  • Working hours: Daytime.
