Your role with us

As an assistant teacher, you work to help and stimulate students in need of special support towards learning, development, and independence, both individually and in groups, using a low-arousal approach. The role involves creating a safe environment and framework for the students, focusing on studies and conditions for developing cooperation and relationships at school. The work is carried out on behalf of the responsible teacher based on the current curriculum.

You support students throughout the school day, both in the classroom and during breaks and in the after-school care center, during meal and hygiene situations, as well as during other activities. The work requires constant attention, analysis, and understanding of situations inside and outside the classroom. In close collaboration with teachers and other assistant teachers, you strive to find individual solutions so that every student can benefit from the teaching in the best possible way. Understanding each other's professional roles is of utmost importance.

Contact and cooperation with guardians is an important part of the work, as is active participation in the workplace's development and taking responsibility for your own personal competence development. The work can be physically demanding and mentally taxing.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for you who have one of the following educations:

• Upper secondary school diploma from the Child and Youth Program with a focus on pedagogical and social work.
• Passed the vocational package Assistant Teacher within adult education or equivalent education as an assistant teacher within folk high school.
• Degree/passed equivalent education that the employer assesses as sufficiently extensive within pedagogy and children's development and learning.
• Meets parts of the educational requirements and has at least three years of work experience as an assistant teacher.

We want you to have documented experience as an assistant teacher and be able to meet children of school age. It is an advantage if you have previously worked with students with NPD. You need to be attuned to the student's needs and be able to choose courses of action within the pedagogical methods and techniques the school works with.

We are looking for someone who has the ability to motivate, inspire, and stimulate students in their development. You are a patient, balanced, and stable person with a professional attitude and can handle situations in a safe and calm manner. Knowledge of low-arousal approaches is meritorious.

To succeed in the role as an assistant teacher, it is important that you can take responsibility, have empathetic ability, and can cooperate. Since the work can be physically demanding, good physical condition is required.

Fjälkinge School is a grades 1-9 school located one mile northeast of Kristianstad. The school has close cooperation with the local community and businesses. In grades 7-9, the school runs a football academy in cooperation with Malmö FF.

About 500 students attend our school. The school is located in three different buildings. The schoolyard invites to many different activities with its natural elements of bushes and trees. There are also playgrounds, football fields, and a basketball court. Within walking and cycling distance are Fjälkinge backe, Lilles backe, and the nature-rich Kjugekull.

Kristianstad Municipality applies individual and differentiated salary setting.

Start Date

The position is a SÄVA (Specially Agreed Terms) full-time position during the period 2026-08-25 to 2026-12-18.

Salary Form: Monthly salary.
Employment Type: Fixed-term employment.
Duration: 3-6 months.
