Do you want to make a real difference for children and young people's schooling? We are looking for an engaged psychologist who wants to contribute to secure and legally sound assessments for special needs education - in a team where quality and collaboration are in focus. We look forward to your application!

Within the Division of Child and Student Health, the Unit for Student-Centered Interventions, there is a working group that handles decisions regarding the right to special needs education. Within this group, there is a psychologist service linked to the process of making decisions about admission to special needs primary and upper secondary schools. The psychologist ensures the quality of psychological assessments that form the basis for these decisions. Additionally, the psychologist investigates students where there is suspicion of incorrect placement - target group review.

We have our workplaces at Fyrisborgsgatan 1 in open office landscapes with good opportunities for remote work from home.

The position is fixed-term with employment until 2027-08-10.

Description of Duties

You will work with all forms of schooling within both municipal and independent operations.

Your duties include:

  • Quality reviewing incoming psychological reports accompanying an application and reporting deficiencies and strengths in these materials to the responsible case officer.
  • Participate in meetings called by the responsible case officer and, together with other participants, determine whether the total material supports that the student belongs to the target group for special needs primary and upper secondary school.
  • On behalf of the responsible case officer, promptly carry out follow-up target group reviews.
  • Provide consultations to investigating psychologists (regardless of healthcare provider or principal) regarding the investigation of intellectual disability prior to applications for special needs education.
  • Participate in systematic quality work regarding the admission process and follow-up target group reviews.
  • Monitor and update knowledge within the research field regarding the diagnosis of intellectual disability, instruments, and methods considered to be the gold standard, as well as being well-versed in the limitations of various types of instruments used for diagnosing children and young people aged 6-21 years.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed psychologist (issued by the National Board of Health and Welfare). To succeed in the work, you need to have documented experience of psychological investigations of children and young people (6-21 years) and investigation of intellectual disability (ID). We see that you have experience working in collaboration with schools/student health services. The work requires that you have good knowledge of the Education Act (especially the chapter on special needs primary and upper secondary school), the National Board of Health and Welfare's and the Swedish Schools Inspectorate's guidelines/general advice, as well as the Health and Medical Services Act and patient safety work.

We would appreciate if you have experience of target group reviews or admission processes for special needs education, supervision/consultation to other psychologists, authority decision-making, and work in municipal operations.

You are flexible and adapt easily to changed circumstances. You see possibilities in changes and can quickly adjust your working method based on new conditions. At the same time, you have strategic ability and a broad perspective, where you see long-term consequences and adjust your actions accordingly. You also have pedagogical insight and a good understanding of how people acquire knowledge, which allows you to adapt your communication and message based on the recipient's needs and conditions.
