At the Swedish Medical Products Agency (Läkemedelsverket), we make a difference together. In life and for life. We work for the health of humans and animals, for a better Sweden today and in the future.

Do you want to work with finance in a government agency with important societal tasks? We are now looking for a colleague to join the Unit for Financial Reporting for a fixed-term position of 6 months.

Our Operations

The Planning and Finance function plays a central role in the agency's governance and works closely with the agency's management to develop financial, operational, and quality control. The function reports directly to the Director General and is led by a Director of Planning and Finance. We are organized into two units, along with employees reporting directly to the Director of Planning and Finance.

The Unit for Financial Reporting is responsible for the agency's financial flows and accounting, including invoicing, payment flows, the financial parts of the annual report, as well as reporting to government accounting and other agencies. We support the entire organization with accounting and financial administrative matters, for example through advice and interpretation of regulations.

Your Responsibilities

As an economist here, you work broadly within the financial field with a focus on ongoing accounting. You are responsible for bookkeeping and reconciliations, participate in year-end closing and other financial processes, and ensure that current regulations, directives, and internal guidelines are followed, with a special emphasis on government accounting.

The work may also include handling externally funded projects and, if necessary, supporting the organization in budgeting, forecasting, and other financial issues.

You contribute to maintaining and further developing efficient working methods and routines in daily work and share your competence with colleagues. Within the unit, we work closely together, support each other during peak workloads, and have continuous knowledge exchange, which means you will play an important role in the joint effort to ensure a stable finance function. You report to the Unit Manager, who is also the agency's Accounting Manager.

Your Background

We are looking for you who have:

  • A post-secondary education in economics, or work experience that we assess as equivalent.
  • Good knowledge of government accounting.
  • Experience working in a large business/financial system.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

It is meritorious if you have experience of:

  • Work with external funding and associated regulations (e.g., EU projects, research funding, or other grant providers).
  • Work with the development of processes and routines.
  • Work in the Unit4 ERP/Agresso system.
  • Work in the Office package, especially Excel.

Your Personal Qualities

To thrive and succeed in the role, we see that you are easy to work with, create good dialogue, and contribute to an open climate. You are responsible, service-oriented, and professional in your contact with colleagues and external parties. You can drive your work independently but also have a strong team spirit and are happy to step in where needed. You are unpretentious, solution-oriented, and comfortable taking initiative. You have a positive attitude towards working in different IT systems and prefer digital tools. You work methodically and systematically, and are accustomed to establishing and applying guidelines, routines, and instructions. You enjoy learning new things, absorb new knowledge, and share it with colleagues. We place great importance on personal suitability.
