About Stockholm Exergi
We are Stockholm's energy company. Through resource-efficient solutions, we secure the growing Stockholm region's access to heat, electricity, cooling, and waste services. We heat over 800,000 residents, and our 300-kilometer district heating network is the hub for the societal benefits we create together with our customers and partners. We are owned by the City of Stockholm and Ankhiale, a consortium of leading European pension funds (APG, PGGM, Alecta, Keva, and AXA IM Alts), and have over 800 employees working every day to reduce Stockholm's climate impact.
About our carbon capture facility
In Värtan, where our combined heat and power plant already produces sustainable electricity and heat from residual products such as wood chips, branches, and tops from the forestry industry, we are now building a full-scale carbon capture facility to create even greater climate benefits.
Bio-CCS is a technology that captures biogenic carbon dioxide before it reaches the atmosphere, storing it permanently in the bedrock. This creates negative emissions because the carbon dioxide is removed from the biogenic cycle. Permanent negative emissions are a tool that can be used to counteract emissions that are difficult or impossible to eliminate. It is a necessary piece of the puzzle to reach climate goals and net-zero emissions. The facility will be able to capture up to 800,000 tons of carbon dioxide per year – more than all of Stockholm's road traffic emits during the same period.
What can we offer you?
Do you want to be part of writing history in the energy transition? As a Process Engineer in BECCS, you will step right into the heart of one of Sweden's most exciting initiatives for future climate solutions.
Since the project is in its early stages, you will have a unique opportunity to be involved from the beginning and set the framework. You will become a key person in building processes, structures, and routines, while simultaneously shaping how we will work in the entire commissioning organization.
Your daily work will be varied – from creating the technical documentation needed for safe and efficient operation, to leading, coordinating, and following up on daily operations when the facility is commissioned. You will work closely with the production team and other functions, providing a dynamic and developing work environment.
Working at Stockholm Exergi and in BECCS means combining groundbreaking technology with experiences that will be invaluable for your own development and for Stockholm Exergi's continued journey toward a climate-positive future.
This is a permanent position.
Working hours: Daytime.
Location: Värtaverket.
