Do you want to work with outreach and preventive efforts among children and young people? Are you brave, wise, and mature? Then we have a dream job for you! One of our colleagues is moving on to a new assignment, and therefore we are looking for a new field assistant.
The primary purpose of the field unit is to meet children and young people aged 10–19 who are at risk of mental health issues, crime, or drug problems, and to counteract recruitment into organized crime. As a field assistant, you will have a varied and autonomous job with great opportunities to influence both young people and your own workday. This is a role that requires courage, professionalism, and endurance – but also offers the chance to make a real difference.
We look forward to receiving your application!
Job Description
Your assignment is to work outreach, relationship-building, and prevention with a focus on children and young people aged 10–19 and their parents.
As a field assistant, you work in the everyday lives of young people – in city centers, residential areas, at schools, and other venues where young people gather. The work takes place during the day, evenings, nights, and weekends, in all weather conditions, according to a schedule set by the unit. The role requires good physical endurance and readiness for frequent travel between different locations. The pace can change quickly, from calm relationship-building conversations to situations requiring immediate presence, safety, and clarity.
The work is based on prevention science, and central to the role is identifying risk factors and reducing their influence by strengthening protective factors for young people at universal, selective, and indicated levels. The tasks are varied and directed at both young people and their parents. A key part of the work is preventing children and young people from being drawn into crime and other destructive environments.
This spring, we started adult walks in collaboration with civil society. Collaboration with other actors such as the police, youth leaders, social workers, the culture unit, and the association alliance also forms important parts of the work. Our presence among children and young people makes other adults braver and more aware of how we can work together for the benefit of children and young people.
Responsibilities
- Outreach and preventive work during the day, evening, and weekend according to a schedule, targeting children and young people aged 10–19.
- Support and therapeutic interventions for children and young people at risk of mental health issues, crime, and drug problems.
- Support and therapeutic interventions for parents, individually and in groups, including parent meetings.
- Manage contact channels via social media and digital forums for children, young people, and their parents. Therefore, you need to have interest, experience, and knowledge of the social media used by children and young people.
You meet young people in both preventive contexts and in situations where concern already exists. This can involve early support measures, individual conversations, and motivational work, as well as acting in more acute situations. The art of listening, talking, and working with the young people's own abilities is central to stimulating development and engagement.
Collaboration is central to the work. You work closely with schools, the police, leisure activities, and other relevant actors. The assignment includes contributing to current situation reports within the municipality's collective crime prevention work through documentation of the outreach work and information sharing with others.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is secure, stable, and has good personal maturity. You have a strong ability to build relationships and meet young people with respect and empathy, while also being able to set clear boundaries when necessary.
You are flexible and open towards young people, parents, and partners, and thrive in an operational job where no day is like the other.
Taking initiative and planning and structuring work independently in collaboration with colleagues is an integrated part of your professional role. You actively contribute to the method development and quality assurance of field operations.
You have the ability to work independently in the field but also to be an active and responsible part of a team. You are unpretentious, professional, and attentive to signals from colleagues – a central characteristic in outreach work.
You are a treatment pedagogue, social worker, behavioral scientist, or have equivalent education.
We would appreciate that you have experience working with children and young people within the social services, and preferably experience in outreach work with young people at risk. We want you to have knowledge and experience of work within addiction care and insight into the importance of drug prevention work.
It is meritorious if you have interest, experience, and knowledge of the social media used by young people.
Great importance is attached to personal suitability and fitting into the team.
A driver's license is required. For this assignment, you must provide a police certificate before employment.
Send in your application as soon as possible, as we interview throughout the recruitment period.
Conditions
We offer you:
- A meaningful assignment with varied and stimulating tasks.
- Engaged and knowledgeable employees with drive and focus on the organization's mission.
- External supervision.
- Subsidized fitness benefits.
- Individual salary setting.
- Holiday swap.
